I'd like to see every item have a different look. HOWEVER; it is very very early in the process and I think that by time the game is complete that every item will have it's own model variant on the character.
haha yeah, if they took the took time to give monsters like what was it? 30 some different ways to die? they're going to take the time to make the armor at least have some variety on the character.

It's a bit late in the day so I'm just going to go off of what I know of the game implementation as it stands right now, which is of course very much a work in progress, and the implementation now is also very likely placeholder. In the game right now, rares are yellow and uniques are orange (although it's a dark orange, almost brown). As Jay said he was working off memory, and thought that purple might instead be reserved for some other item type we haven't talked about yet. That appears to be the case. Regardless of all this though, there are only so many colors that work, that read differently from each other and are easily distinguished while also being easy to read, aren't annoying, etc. Purple will very likely be used for items of some type, and that's because it works and is easily distinguishable. If purple is the best color for an item type in its readability and ease of incorporation into fun and flowing game play, then that is what will be used. Game play comes first. We don't look at another game and take something simply for the sake of doing it, we're going to take something because it's a good idea and it's what will make a fun game. On a personal note, I hope the issue is with the classic item types staying the same, and not with purple as a color being used whatsoever. I can hope. -Bashiok NO PURPLE UNIWUES, THEYRE STILL GOLD-Y
The new inventory and UI is 100x times better than the old one wow crap, but talent still looks like wow.....Certainly a step in the right direction!!
Btw the threating shout in the talent tree is IMBA as shit, 70% damage reduction.. is 5/5 90% damage reduction..... looks like they are still working on the
graphic and not the gameplay, this game is far far from finished, 2012 anyone?? And whats up with not being able to put 20+ points into 1 skill, wow crap again......

I can live with a dark orange but after a long battle killing a horrifying demonic entity seeing a bunch of Purple writing just kind of kills the mood.
The inventory should definitely use a detailed model for the paper doll instead of a generic background. What better way to feel awesome than to be able to see the awesomeness of your character up close while playing with loot?
Personally, I think it's because when viewed up close, the item models don't look good.
I'm very averse to them changing the unique color. I also liked the gold/bronze color for uniques and I find that changing it to purple detracts from that feel. Beyond that, I think using purple as the "best of the best" color in a gothic game is close to blasphemous. I really hope they rethink that decisions.....

I am so psyched to see this, I love the UI, thanks god they got rid of the paper doll. I kinda was like wtf when i saw the new runes, shaped square is lame. I think the font for the items on the ground is pretty boring also, again these have already been noted i just am reinforcing the ideas. I love the designs !!!! omg
But i find this background for the inventory a bit too "empty" you know.
There should be some more images or whatever on the background of the inventory i think.
Id like to see more stained glass that is by far my favourtie part of the UI.

I don't really see it to be honest. That's probably because they haven't showed to many outside areas in awhile.
As for the 'This isn't what I thought it would be' attitude, I'm thinking of it as a new suit, same materials kinda deal.
