Many people are eager to get their hands on Sideshow Collectibles' Diablo 3 "Overthrown" statue which has yet to receive an official release date or a final paint job. Bashiok recently chimed in on the Battle.net forums with an update on the status of the project.
"It's coming along very well, but there is still a ways to go on the statue. It's a gigantic statue, the final pose is 18" tall, sculpted by Pablo Viggiano who also worked on the Blood Elf vs. Draenei statue (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=28041).
For anyone that's interested you can check out the Overthrown statue at: http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=80231 which has some black&white images of the sculpt (unfinished/unpainted). Sideshow is offering the statue in two versions, one which is an extremely limited edition and includes an interchangeable helmet option (linked above), as well as offering their FlexPay payment scheduling on both versions.
I still can't wait to see the finished product. It's currently available for pre-order at $299.99. So how many of you are planning on pre-ordering it? How many of you have already done so?
I don't consider that too much money, at all, but that's just me.
Consider how much people pay for paintings or sculptures they really want, and compare it to that. Some people really want that, trust me, I love that kind of stuff.
eh...300 is quite a bit for a statue; I could see maybe a hundred. It's hard to price art and I do consider it art even if it's for a game. Kind of makes me think that Blizz thinks their fanbase is rich or something
I guess that's your opinion... it also really depends on how many they make... if they only make a few hundred... I could see myself paying 3K or even more, but if they make millions of them, I could only see myself paying under a hundred dollars....
The rarity of the art produced, also adds to it's value, not just how greatly it is desired by it's fans.
If the statue is going to take months to get finalized after being announced... It makes me shutter at the thought of how long we will be waiting for this damn game.

And is it just me, or does the Barbarian look very "shoop da whoop" with his helmet off?
I want it, but come on! No doubt it will be sold out but I'd never pay that much... I wish they made it smaller so it could be around $100 bucks :x
I was excited that I was gonna get every piece of merchandise from D3 available, but suddenly I'm not so happy anymore...
It's not the final product, he might live ;P
