MTV Multiplayer Journalist Tracey John wraps up her set of interviews with Jay Wilson with a bang. Diablo 1 and Diablo II characters will be prominent throughout the storyline of Diablo 3, as well as characters from the novels that did never exist in the previous Diablo games. More interesting is that Blizzard considers Diablo 3, the wrap up of the trilogy. Did we get a hint that Diablo MMO is to follow? Or a Diablo 3 Expansion? Read the Diablo 3 Storyline interview.
“We also tried to focus a little more on bringing characters back, and not just from ‘Diablo II’ but from ‘Diablo I,’” he said. “We feel like a lot of the focus is on ‘Diablo II’ but ‘Diablo I’ started it all and has a lot of really good stuff on the gameplay side and on the character side. So people can expect to see characters from ‘Diablo I,’ more characters from ‘Diablo II,’ and characters from some of the books. We’re definitely going to bring a few of them in.”
Sin wars i think would be the best setting for a diablo mmo. also you have to read the whole article not just the snippets we post.... to get the zomg what els could they do with the diablo series? i mean if they can turn a rts game into a mmo you can definetly turn a action already rpg into a mmo.
(No its not just the monthly fee. I dont like them because of several issues and the monthly fee is just something that removes the last small chance. So yes, theres a small chance that ill play a free MMO, something like %1. Thats actually just the possibility of starting to play, continueing to play is also something like a %1 chance. That equals a total of %0,01.)
I don't see anything about an MMO in there. Just that it's not the end of Diablo. Saying that this title wraps up on this storyline, doesn't mean there won't be another Diablo some day in the future. It just means it wraps up this particular storyline. Diablo did alot of evil stuff in his past, and he's certain to do alot of evil stuff again in the future. So they may very easily just make a Diablo IV that has another ongoing story. Basically, it means (imo) that the plan of the Prime Evils truly comes to fruition in Diablo 3. They either win, or we lose. Either way, we'll know it all by the end of D3. We'll know what they were really planning.
Also, they could've ment that the game after Diablo 3 is going to be called "Baal" or something cuz maybe the storyline they wanna pursue doesn't involve Diablo himself anymore after 3, and then using his name for the game is foolish.
As for "It's not just 'Diablo III' [coming up] - we've got plans beyond", I think he means the movie. We all know it's coming, they had it up on that site then took it away. It's the same site it was with the Warcraft movie, and you know what? They had it up there, then took it away.. Guess what? The Warcraft movie got confirmed.
Regardless, let's all still hope there will NEVER EVER FUCKING EVER be a Diablo MMO.
*OFF_TOPIC* Btw, just to reply to some people earlier, I don't care about a monthly fee. Makers of the game getting more money so they can spend more time improving the game after it's been released? I'm all for it. And what's the difference really, if you're paying for 5 games in year's time or that amount of money in a year's time on one game you can keep playing.. Although I have to say I like GW's system better; no monthly fee, just a new game every half year. Comes down to the same thing, but feels alot nicer
The point is, I'm just not the person to enjoy playing MMO's, and certainly not WoW. Not my kind of game at all. And the story would get fucked up with a Diablo MMO (although of course, there's more freedom in the Diablo story than in the Warcraft story; you just make a new Diablo game after the MMO and have it take place before all of it. Not so easy with Warcraft..).
