I prefer "realism" to negativity. If you perceive the reality of our having to wait until we have a finished, polished, all-star product on our hands then, yes, it seems a bit unfortunate.
I'll reiterate that coming on this board among a community of Diablo 3 hopefuls and saying the ever popular "sorry but Diablo 3 is not coming out didn't mean to ruin your day or anything" certainly doesn't phase me. As a long-time veteran of the Diablo franchise I firmly believe that Blizzard will revisit it at some point (within 18 months, ideally, to see some real footage and maybe a hands-on preview at a major game convention) and may very well have their production teams blazing full steam ahead on Diablo 3. I hope this is the truth. There are certain signs that point to this as being reality.
I love to speculate and I love to conjecture on the "hints" and such. That's what makes this a good discussion, but I am afraid we'll continue to see more unsubstantiated and poorly constructed all-out rejections of Diablo's future. I suppose a few here and there are good to spur a nice argument, but for real debate let's stick to the tangible stuff. We have statements from Paul Sams, Richard Knaak and other Blizzard executives that do not specifically allude to Diablo but do not altogether negate its possibility. If they express clear interest in a series and recognize its community as active and starved for a title it is in their best interest to start production on a game or tell us quite plainly that we should not expect a Diablo sequel.
I believe this makes sense. And since we've heard Blizzard say that Diablo is still a living franchise, there is no reason to believe that we are to be deprived of Diablo for more than is absolutely necessary.
Certainly more than few good points here.
I too prefer the cautiously optimistic (if not regularly optimistic) stance. It's a lot better than walking around, eyes downcast, saying "fuck fuck fuck" all the time.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
The Mike Morhaime interview seemed very promising as well.
Just watched this one as well as the Paul Sams interview before Blizzcon. I think I enjoyed Pauls reaction the best. " Team 3? What's Team 3. " So anyone find out where the other diablos were announced. Been looking into it, but so far have only found dates; not where they were announced at. GC is getting closer and I still hold my bet on that being the announcement.
Hey good work dunhac! It didn't occur to me that we should try researching announcement locations for the original Diablo games.
That said, were there any major pseudo-public game conventions in the late 90s or was it all more or less an industry word-of-mouth procedure? I remember printed magazines having a large influence on the exposure of new games to the public. Maybe ... just maybe ... I have some original issues of Computer Games Strategy Plus tucked away somewhere, but those may have long since been recycled. I will, however, comb through the archives for the edification of the Diablo3.com crowd
EDIT: Oh, shit, I just found my copy of King's Quest VI. Nostalgia setting in...
Ya I don't like being negative but i just don't think that d3 is comin out... i mean im not sayin i don't want it to come out but I just don't find it likely...
Yo. for the people that wanted it I just recieved 5 more Mythos Invites....
First 5 Emails will get them...
And another thing, I tested Hell Gate London, and for thoes who think it's a RTS.. It now makes me giggle.. It has more RPG qualities than the Diablo games. Items (Rare and other Levels), Classes, Skills, Levels, Some Monsters are (yellow, "special ability") And the graphics are unbeleiveable. I am very impressed. Unforunately I do not have any invites for that..
Im not supposed to so im going to wait untill I play around more before I post Caps of the game. =)
Ok I changed my mind.. Here are a few screens... =)
Like I said, I just started so Im sure there is much more to show but, Here is what to expect in the alpha version. Im glad this game is what it is, It Is going to surprise people. enjoy

Im not sure, the support link on the site is still grayed out, but the system requirements say Windows XP Home or Pro, SP 2 or higher. http://www.mythos.com/min_specs.jsp
So my guiess would be its only on windows, but that doesnt mean it wont have support for linux/wine later.
Guys Hellgate is so awesome I don't even know what to say. lol Just did my frist quest. Youll need a $150+ graphics card.. as of now.. so like a 300+ graphics card about a year ago. To even get the thing to run...
I have to tell you people too honestly... Mythos has alot of diablo features, game play, and style, some wow ideas as well, and very very addictive. Hallgate hits the nail on the head, is that Dark, type hack and slash game that you got from Diablo, I shit you not. that Audio is sweet, Game play is very different First persion point of view, take a litle bit to get use to it, once you get it down youll adapt and It makes the gameplay better. Graphics are incredible. There are different colored wepons/ rare, unique, magic. 5 colors I beleive. (Alike Mythos)

They are both awesome games.
Also, if you have one more, my brother (he lives in another house) would love to have a beta invite too. His email is Hunter24seven@yahoo.com.
Thanks man =P Been waiting a long time for you to get more invites, I hope I get hooked =P
How is Hellgate by the way? I am going to buy Hellgate asap when it launches. It looks sick.
