blizzard said in a blizzcon interview that they like to make their own event and announce their big projects there, so i expect diablo to be release at a new blizzcon which might happen in 2008, theres also the WWI....
well really that makes no since...because blizzard only has big projects...tehy are not pushing out rushed small games...so the next announcment of any sort will be diablo 3 or a new game franchise
You must remember, the interview said "working on" which by no means translates to "are nearing completion" or "are ready to preview". It could well be a longer wait, so don't get yourselves worked up for it. Meanwhile, I will continue to do it, because at the moment I have nothing better to do
I'm thinking that the announcent will come at the leipzig gc. I have a few reasons behind this: one it's the biggest gaming convention outside of one held in Japan (well over 100,000 attend leipzig gc) and their numbers have grown every year (just check it out on wikipedia). two the "wrath of the lich king" expansion had a label of "gc demo" on it. This made many people mistakenly assume that it would be announced at leipzig games convention. (mentioned at the beginning of this blog here http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/07/31/world-of-warcraft-wrath-of-the-lich-king-expansion-pack-demo-to-be-shown-by-blizzard-in-august.htm )
So my thinking here (no facts behind this, just putting it out there) that this
"gc demo" is actually diablo iii and there was a mix-up or some misinformation tossed in there.
Also, from what I've read on the boards, the beta key is still not active. I guess people were to send in the beta key via email and will be contacted when the beta is done.
I'm not giving up hope on this yet; they said three announcements in 2007 and so far two are down. Plus team 3 still working out there. Also, don't know if anyone cared to look but the blizzard job posts that included "creators of diablo and diablo 2" are no longer there (ie must be filled). Not sure how long the've been gone though. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any news. It was really crappy of Blizzard to not even utter the words "diablo" at blizzcon. They better make it up to us....
not in the habit of putting up rumors; so I'll recant my statment about them saying they will announce 3 games in 2007. Either way I still stand by my theory for it being at leipzig. Anyone know where they origionally announced the other Diablo games???? Might give some insight into where they would announce the next one; whenever that might be...
I just realized something else that puts a little bit more validity to my theory of it being at leipzig. A lot of the sites that blizzard purchased that had to do with diablo iii were european sites, correct?
a case can be made for a d3 announcement in europe, if something is ready to be announced of course.
we saw sc2 announced in Asia, wow xpac in N. America, and now for the Europeans, possibly d3. bliz is a global gaming company who already recruit programmers from all over the map, announcing a game for fans in each of the dominant continents this year could make some sense, but they'll probably just screw us again
yaaa, lets announce diablo in europe! so i can attend woepdiedoei!
Which contry has the most Diablo fan gamers ? I'll assume it's USA i'm not so sure if it's a wise idea to annouce it in Europe
Ya, If they could annouce Diablo down here would be wonderful!
ppl are saying that team 3 is goin to be diablo 3 because The wrath of the lich king expansion had gc demo on it and diablo 3 could still be announced for some strange reason. and also because the add on the blizzard website took away the add for "wanting ppl that worked on diablo and diablo 2" and people are thinking that it is gone because the spots are filled. i mean u need to face the fact. diablo 3 is probably not goin to come out. also Richard A. Knack said that he was "not writing a book about the dead but with dead in it." The Wrath of the Lich King is not about the dead is it? no its about a game with dead in it. i can not explain why blizzard said that the announcement at blizzcon was not going to be about WoW, which it ended up being, but i can assure u that team 3 is just workin on the expansion....
I prefer "realism" to negativity. If you perceive the reality of our having to wait until we have a finished, polished, all-star product on our hands then, yes, it seems a bit unfortunate.
I'll reiterate that coming on this board among a community of Diablo 3 hopefuls and saying the ever popular "sorry but Diablo 3 is not coming out didn't mean to ruin your day or anything" certainly doesn't phase me. As a long-time veteran of the Diablo franchise I firmly believe that Blizzard will revisit it at some point (within 18 months, ideally, to see some real footage and maybe a hands-on preview at a major game convention) and may very well have their production teams blazing full steam ahead on Diablo 3. I hope this is the truth. There are certain signs that point to this as being reality.
I love to speculate and I love to conjecture on the "hints" and such. That's what makes this a good discussion, but I am afraid we'll continue to see more unsubstantiated and poorly constructed all-out rejections of Diablo's future. I suppose a few here and there are good to spur a nice argument, but for real debate let's stick to the tangible stuff. We have statements from Paul Sams, Richard Knaak and other Blizzard executives that do not specifically allude to Diablo but do not altogether negate its possibility. If they express clear interest in a series and recognize its community as active and starved for a title it is in their best interest to start production on a game or tell us quite plainly that we should not expect a Diablo sequel.
I believe this makes sense. And since we've heard Blizzard say that Diablo is still a living franchise, there is no reason to believe that we are to be deprived of Diablo for more than is absolutely necessary.

imagine if instead of diablo rumors and analyzing we did, we would put our mental power on something like fusion. think of the advancements that could be made in anything if blizzard said "we'll give you diablo 3 if you can solve and harness fusion."
but i can assure u that team 3 is just workin on the expansion....
that is the stupidest thing ive ever heard. first of all, they said it had nothing to do with WoW but it was 'totally awesome" and you cant assure anything. And to say otherwise, is just stupid on your part. Team 3, with 40 people, probably arent working on an expansion of an expansion of an expansion. because the team that made the expansion of the expansion, is working on the NEW expansion for next year. the WoW expansion they plan to realease every year. SAME TEAM... and its not sc2, because they wouldnt have called it "team 3" and they already said one of the other 3 teams was working on sc2. "3 teams. one - WoW related. two - sc related. three - something really awesome"
and also because the add on the blizzard website took away the add for "wanting ppl that worked on diablo and diablo 2"
i havent seen a post about that recently. and they go between job postings, they dont keep diablo wanting list up for the entire year, until the spots are filled then take them down... they switch around every once in a while.
The Wrath of the Lich King is not about the dead is it? no its about a game with dead in it.
I haven't seen "dead" in WoW yet. and no one has said about anything 'dead' related being exlusive to WoW WotLK... and secondly... HE WROTE A FUCKING BOOK ABOUT DIABLO YOU MORON I'd like to see your response to this, but most likely it will be something stupid relating to maybe one sentence of this.
Let's make this happen. Imagine how much attention Blizz would pay to us if we, in fact, had made a major scientific breakthrough. I bet they would give each of us our own hidden NPCs in game or something.
Which is a funny point - if you go through and look at the credits of the Diablo titles there are quite a few items and monsters that share their names with the developers (e.g. Schaefer's Hammer [Max and Erich Schaefer], Lord de Seis [Rick Seis], Shenk the Overseer [Phil Shenk], Colenzo the Annihilator [Karin Colenzo])

fusion would be solved in months!!

Depressing tho... I wanted D3...
