Template: Item List (Diablo II)

  • #1
So I tried in relative vain tonight to convert the Template: Item List from D3 to D2 in order to create a Template: Item List (Diablo II).

I *think* all that needs to be done, really, is to copy and paste the D3 one into a new template page, and then manually change all of the listed elements to match the items shown on the Template: Item Box (Diablo II) page. Am I right? If so, I can do this. If not, what does need to be done to make the Item List template exist for D2 items?

I should mention that in order for me to convert my lists into wiki-pages that reference the data that Apoc so generously prepped, I need this template to work. Until then we're looking at either manual data entry for each item in the list (boo) or really clunky looking collections of item boxes that won't really show comparative data any better than what already exists (also boo).

Almost. That has to be done too, but we also need to add some code to DiabloWiki.com - Template:Item Display (Diablo II) Template:Item Display (Diablo II), so the wiki knows it's a D2 item and that a D2 list has to be used. That is very easy to add however.

The list will need some changed cells, and this is going to be the troublesome part. DPS doesn't make any sense for D2, the sockets can be more accurately displayed for proper items, name colors should be changed, kick damage added for boots, varying damage cells for different item types etc. There's no parameter equal to {{{item_type}}} like what is present in the d3 items, and as far as I can tell Apoc didn't add one in the rerun. That makes it a little tricky to figure out when cells should be hidden. I'll get to work on setting up a list that works right away.

Alright, the templates have been fixed. DiabloWiki.com - Template:Item Display (Diablo II) Template:Item Display (Diablo II) and DiabloWiki.com - Template:Item List (Diablo II) Template:Item List (Diablo II) are ready to be used.

However, the d2 items are all lacking the necessary parameters to display as anything else but infoboxes. So until ApocBot can make a run through an update all of them, we can unfortunately not use these templates :P

Awesome! Super Awesome! And poop. Seriously though, thank you for helping out with this. I know the major focus is on D3, but the whole wiki team has been very responsive and welcoming. I really appreciate it!
