Just as a heads up, I'm adding as much as I can about suffixes and prefixes. I've already added them to the Jewels page, so you can check that out to get a sneak peak.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

I hate to call into question all of DNA's hard work on this page, but I'm wondering if the sortable list is really the best way to approach this. As it is, it can be difficult to find a specific attribute you may be looking for, and lots of scrolling is involved either way. It's also incredibly redundant since there has to be a separate entry for each affix for every item it can occur on (so the Item Type column can be sorted). For example, Bronze occurs five times, once each for Amulets, Circlets, Gloves, Rings, and Weapons. I think this makes the list bulky and difficult to read. If we took a categorical approach to the page (level 2/3 headlines), browsing would be much easier thanks to the table of contents, other articles could easily link to a specific affix (using the table of contents), and we wouldn't need multiple entries for every affix. Of course, we could always have two separate affix pages, one sortable and one categorical, but I don't know if that's a good/better solution. Thoughts?

You raise a valid point Kickin (from now on you shall be known as Kickin).

How specific do you think we should go with headers, i.e how many? Using them is fine, but too many and it'll just feel cluttered.
Well, I was thinking pretty specific...just looking through the page as it is now...
+AR
+Cold Damage
+Fire Damage
+Lighting Damage
+Poison Damage (These could probably all be combined into +Elemental Damage)
+Enhanced Damage
etc...
True it might get a little cluttered, but with the Table of Contents at the top of the page, hopefully it won't be too bad and it'll make for easier navigation. Also, like I said, it would make it easy to link in other articles to a specific affix. For example, on the http://www.diablowiki.com/index.php/Crafted_Items" rel="nofollow" Crafted Items page, there's a red link to "Mechanic's." We could fix that link by just doing something like [[Affixes_(Diablo_II)#+Sockets|Mechanic's]].
Anyway, I know I'm not exactly a dynamo with tables, but I was thinking that would probably be easy if it works on the wiki like it does in my brain.:P I'm basically thinking in a single table cell, we'd have the affix left justified, the effect of it centered, and the item types it can come on right justified. So, for example:
Bronze (Left Justified) -- +10-20 to Attack Rating (Centered) -- Amulets, Circlets, Gloves, Rings, Weapons (Right Justified)
Would something like that be possible?

Is it really optimal to separate it based on bonus? That is indeed a lot of headers. Similar to how item pages work, a link to for example Mechanic's doesn't have to link precisely that affix, so long as it is easy to find from the header you are sent to. One header for each is probably too much.
Would separation based on item type make more sense? It works well enough for charms, but what of all other items?

Yes. Though you are missing the level column, which should be included.

Well, that's basically what sorting the item type in the current page does, so I don't really see a point in reformatting the entire page if that's all we're going to do. Also, I think it would honestly be better to leave the charms off this page and make separate pages for them (like has been done with Jewels) since they're so different.
EDIT: Also, sorting by item type won't do anything to help in navigating to a particular bonus you're wanting to find. If I'm looking for info on MF affixes, sorting item type isn't going to do a lot for me, but being able to click "+Magic Find" on the ToC will.

I think we could combine a lot of the different categories. Like I said, we could combine all the +Cold, +Fire, etc into +Elemental...likewise, we could combine +AR, +AR (Based on Char Level), and affixes like Fool's (+AR/Max Dmg Based on Char Level) all into just +AR (and then Fool's would also be found in the +Max Damage category). All the different +Elemental Resistances would be in one category, all the +skills (Class and individual trees) would be in one category, etc. If we did this, for the prefixes, there would be 20 subcategories by my count. Which is a fair amount, but not too many. Most of them would be pretty large categories and I don't think it would be too cluttery.

Makes perfect sense, we should definitely do that.

Well shall simply have to test and see how it looks then. I can design the table tomorrow, because now I have to sleep.

Sweet, well if you do that and want to write a little bit of the page, like...
==Prefixes==
===+Attack Rating===
Bronze-Weird (or less if you want...as long as there's a few)
Then I can probably (hopefully) look at what you've done and be able to figure out how to work the table format you made and work on the rest of the page this week.
Hello folks. I've been really busy and haven't had time to make up the suffix list yet, but I'll be working on it. My ideal goal was actually not to have the prefix and suffix page be the main part of this project, but rather to have a visibility-toggled list of prefixes and suffixes on each item type's page with only the applicable affixes that those items can spawn with. This way when you browse to Axes, there would be a seperate ToC entry for Prefixes and Suffixes. For instance, when you click on Prefixes: it takes you to them you can click 'Show' on the table, and it would have a list of only the prefixes which can spawn on Axes.
Of course, this is a wiki, so it's a group effort, but if you'd like me to do the suffixes up in a different format, let me know before I do it so I don't waste a bunch of time formatting it the wrong way.

I've been looking at the affix page... Why can't we use the same structure we have now, except divide up up with headers instead of having it all in one table? Why design a new template altogether?

Do you mean have an affix listing on each individual item page for the types of affixes that could spawn on that item type, or have a link on the item pages to the affix article itself?
Having show/hide is a great idea though, I think we should incorporate that.

Nice to see people working on the wiki. Keep it up! And welcome!
So far, I have added the prefix list to it. I will work on the suffix list over the next week (it takes a long time to format them all).
nice job on affixes btw
the current work around for the affixes page is just too large
i think we will need to reformat it using our templates once its complete.
cause its missing the suffixes atm
