Okay, basically, all the 'lore' that you see in the character skills (look at Barbarian or Necromancer as they're good now :D) has been taken from this site here http://www.diablowiki.net/Diablo_II_Manual
Okay, now then, the page numbers on this site are drastically wrong. Just as an example, page 3 is the 'Getting Started' portion of the manual, and Chris Metzen's poem is page 1.
Developing your character is page 34, not page 28. I have this manual sitting in front of me, and I've just went through the Necromancer and the Barbarian and added the correct page references.
Now, this isn't important in absolutely any way, but it's principle of the thing.
Basically, every single reference I've come across (except for a few with the Necromancer and the Paladin) has referenced the wrong page number, often being off by 20 pages or more.
Anyways I'm trying to correct them and it's a real pain so any help from someone with the manual on any of classes would be great in correcting/giving references (which is the real point of making this thread actually ;))
I'm also trying to standardise the layout of the skills. It goes for every single skill
Name
Skill progression
then after that it should be ==Description== (or any other word or titles) then ==Lore==, then reference. So just asking if it's possible for more people than me to edit them to this layout. Though if you're working on a new article or doing something more important for the wiki then fixing layout issues I understand. Thanks for your time. :diablo:

If I am not mistaken, weren't there multiple versions of the Manual over the last ten years?
According to the site itself they transcribed the stuff from a PDF document. Which means that as we're referencing the manual itself and not the PDF one, we can either switch all the references to credit the PDF document (as the page numbers are pretty much copied straight from that site) or we can switch the page numbers to accurately reflect the printed manual.
You'd have to find a manual printed later that is drastically different than the one before mine (Copyrighted 2000-2002), so if you've got a printed manual that is printed after that year and it's different then we always credit the most recent one. Then you'd have to go to the trouble of changing the page numbers again.

Hm, well, I wrote basically every Sorceress article and I didn't use their online copy. I used my own physical one.
Edit~
Although, I never used page numbers. Those must have been added in when people went around using the new template. You are correct, they are all wrong and don't match up with my hard copy at all.
I'm assuming you're going to start fixing them?

Well I'm not saying I've looked at all the characters, I got sidetracked with adding lore to some other pages today. But the ones I did see where mostly based off that one.

I fixed all of the Necromancer and Barbarian ones today (atleast they're the ones I remember doing) earlier in the morning.
But it is incredibly repetitive work.
But yes I am trying to fix them lol. Any help you could give me (doing one one of the original characters lightens the load by 20% and means I only have to do 2 more) would be really good.
though note the expansion characters don't have this kind of filling out of their abilities in the LoD manual

Very interesting. The pages numbers were added by me, and I took them directly from the hard copy of the manual that I have.
However, mine is in Swedish, but I had no idea we'd be off by some 30 pages. I assumed the layout would be identical in both versions, and so didn't think much about it. The text is identical, though translated naturally, so that's kind of weird. It might also be due to different versions, mine is from 2000.

Well THAT clears up a few things lol
Okay well basically I've edited the Paladin, the Barb, the Necromancer and I'm in the middle of the Amazon to my copy, which is the english version. Not all the articles had references for their pieces of lore (which means I've gotta credit something and my one is the only one I have) and I've also worked on making the layout of the pages look exactly the same.
It's not the difference in the copies (mines from 2000 too), it's the language.
Look man this makes me feel a little guilty but if it's alright with you I think we'll (meaning I if Seth doesn't wanna do the sorc) just keep going and edit everything to the English version. Sorry to undo your edits effectively, it mustn't've been fun adding them...
Ummmm yeh I'll keep going, it's still better in a way because now every skill will have lore, and a reference for the lore, and it will all be from the same book.
oh well

Things must take a whole lot longer to say in English then if the Swedish version manages to cut out 30 pages before beginning on skills

The game is English, and the majority of readers will probably expect to find sources in English as well. It makes perfect sense, since it's kind of hard for people to use a Swedish source anyway.

Okay, 4/5 classes done, it's 11:25 pm, I think I might leave the Sorc till morning... it'll take me half an hour to do her... and I'm so tired I'm making mistakes in my editing which I have to re-edit to fix.
Lol I complained to my friend that I was finally finished editing the wiki for tonight and she asked me if I wanted a medal... well yes I damn well do!
