Hey friends,
First time post on Diablo Fans, so i'll start with a hello.
I've been wondering recently if there are any "guild" website tools I can start using to build a site from now with.
I want to start up a little guild/clan with my wow guildies right from the start since there is no real guild system in Diablo 3.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I was hoping to find a tool like wowstead for diablo but so far no dice.
I am also thinking of a kind of forum+chat room type.
Well the forums here (and that I use too) are pretty good. Done by http://www.invisionpower.com/ You can also spread out into the articles and "portal" like front page as Diablofans does too.
For a more traditional website thoughm you can maybe get away with a modified Guild Portal website. Other than that, it's off to open source templates or CMS stuff not easy either.
EDIT: http://www.guildportal.com/ is pretty good, was curious and took a look, they do have a Diablo 3 section, so maybe custom tool will be developed in the future. Try it out.
If you are looking into the less expensive arena i would go with what drjdredscythe noted invision is good.
I use vbulletin for my site, built in CMS as well as Blog system.
On their addon website they have a few addons for Guilds and Clans that I use on my site.
but the actual vbulletin software is not cheap, though IMHO it is better.
My site can handle multiple Clans/Guilds and each Clan/Guild has its own hidden forum to talk strategies, if you just want a place to hang out and let me take care of the admin side of things.
If you are looking for a easy to setup guild service including hosting and all that stuff then you could take a look at http://www.enjin.com/. I have used it myself for a guild in WoW and it was pretty good, can only imagine it has become even better now since they updated it quite frequently. Smooth interface and has pretty much any feature you'd like. It's basically like Wowstead for any game.
Thanks for the replies gang.
For now I just started a facebook group for my current guildies who are also on facebook.
i'm gonna investigate those suggestions and evaluate based on what my friends end up doing. My group tends to use our facebook page more often than the wowstead website i built so I may just stay with that.
Tell you the truth, if you can navigate Facebook, and make a "Fanpage" for the guild your in, that could work, especially considering the fact you can have a forum like aspect and control whos allowed to view and post. Not a bad idea to come to think about it...

That's a great idea. No need to pay money for a guild site, no need to worry about ad spammers in the forums (not sure if anyone else got those but my guild did back when I used to play WoW), and it's also great because more often than not people are on facebook so they'll see guild posts!
