Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)

In the blue tracker, in the thread called: "synergies, dead or unconfirmed?" Bashiok mentions NO synergies, and less need for synergies; respecs, being part of the solution..

I guess this means that respecs are in a way confirmed (but it could still possibly change, just so no one says that..)

Good. Fixes more problems than it causes.

Re-specs were already confirmed. But they didnt say how re-specing would happen.

They weren't confirmed [before]?

They were mentioned.

Read this thread; yes I know it only says respec is planned, but do you really want to split hairs? What we don't have are details.

Re-specing? Please, please no.

The best part about Diablo 2 is that there is always a new character to try. With only 7 character classes, I'm sure most of us have made dozens of each, all with a unique skill set (unless you just play Hammerdins over, and over, and over). Thinking up a new character and building them from the start keeps Diablo II new all the time. There are still things I havebn't tried.

If respecing is a option, it will kill this. I don't cere how expensive it is, if I can take a character that took months to build and simply morph him into whatever I wish on a whim, it completely destroys the precision and interest it takes to build a character.

Re: Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)

Sorry, forgot this:

I believe we should be able to respec perhaps only our last few skill points, in order to fix skills that you realize you dislike or in the event of a miss-click.

Re: Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)

I completely agree. Respeccing does not fit in the Diablo style.
I played dozens and dozens over characters through the years, and starting from scratch was never really a bore to me. When I made a new character, I would look into what build I would make, and go from there. Some builds made it very tough to play through even just Act 1 because I couldn't spend points till a higher level. This made it an interesting replay.

With respec, I will lose that experience. The build that required me to skip a lot of skills would never be made, because I would just wait till I attain that level, the respec to use it. LAME.

And I just don't see myself forcing myself to play with no-respeccing if it's made avaialble and everyone else is doing it...peer pressure!

Re: Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)

If you dont like to respec then dont do it. I think its a great addition to diablo. It means that at lvl 2 you can put points wherever you want to have the most fun and at lvl 20 when you get an awesome skill you can respec and then at 50, etc. It doenst mean that you will HAVE to re-spec instead of starting a new build. Once I find a build I like I do not plan to respec I will just make another character. This is because I know I will have fun making a totally different build and LEVELING with that build. If you only make one of each character simply because of the option to re-spec then I don't think D3 is the game for you.

Re-specing is better in every single way. But I hope its not as simple as in WoW. E.g. after I unlearn all my skills I have to use each skill a bit before I can put more points in.

You're not being forced to respec. If what you enjoy is playing through many different characters each time you want to try a new spec, then play that way! Nobody is stopping you.
