Within the first 20 minutes of play after installing the 2.1, I picked up my first ever Wand of Woh and also an RORG. I am not sure if drop rate logic has been improved but I am at last, on the happier side of content.
I feel the same way.. If you're like me and only play casually, then its hard to play and feel you're making progress with the drop rates of certain items. There is an expectation that everyone needs to put in hundreds/thousands of hours to get "desirable' legs which is quite scarey given RNG really does appear to be random with no memory and will not make sure you get the mauruder set by your 1000th hour. You could be in for a very very long wait.
I've put in 500 hours into my wiz and she has still has MANY hyped items to find. I have not even started playing a monk, barb, crusader yet.
Its more likely we will see a major game changing patch than it is we'll find say, a Wow or something. Thats what i find really amusing about how this game is designed
I got a knife ( ... breath ) from a Act 1 horadric cache drop. I thought i could only get 5 specific items from Act 1 horadric caches ( RORG, Skelton king shoulders, braces, sceptre, amulet ). The RNG engine is definitely buggy !!. Unfortunately, not buggy enough for me find many perfectly rolled RORGs clicking on loose stones / corpses.
The biggest mistake I made after playing Diablo and loving it was going on the internet to search for "diablo best wizard items". Once you learn of these powerful items and begin to hope to pick one up, that's it, you are doomed.
The current RNG implementation will cause you to play obessively and ultimately, result in frustration and much disappointment.I will pack this game in soon as it's just become too buggy and too boring. Playing like a zombie for hours with no reward is not my idea of fun.
