You cant do adventure mode until you complete act 5, so campaign is kind of necessary to you know...do adventure mode?
also boosting is still possible and very easy,
1. have lvl 60 give lvl 1 cota quest
2. have lvl 1 host a T6 game on the cota quest
3. have 60 join game clear cota
4. repeat low level makeing a game on T6 until level 60
