Really hope that doesn't mean they're considering going back on their word and keeping the Gold Auction House in the game and not shutting it down.
I understand the feeling that people felt great with how the GAH streamlined trading, as it did that, in some way...problem is, it streamlined it way too much. You weren't trading with others so much as you were shopping among thousands of independent sellers.
Actual trading involved interacting, communicating, networking, salesmanship...things this game could use more of. The GAH was basically ebay, and the thing with ebay is that people usually go there when they want things dirt cheap, cheaper than retail, or looking to get something for very little.
Victories in the AH basically involved ripping someone off by making a buyout way too friggin high for something not worth that much gold or cash...or sniping an auction before it effectively rose in price to give the seller more back on their sale.
I sincerely hope both Auction Houses truly go on March 18. I have no problem with them making better systems, trading only "town" kinda games with no monsters, but more than 4 players allowed in, a chat lobby or trading specific UI of some sort...even some sort of "trading post" idea, like others have suggested, where players can post items they're looking to trade away, with specific affix or level values, that can have offers sent to them, that'd be cool.
But the Auction Houses, as they stand now, have to go.
