But does no one feel that the humour in this quest kind of destroyed the credibility of Blizzard's characterization of Adria and thus wasn't very well done artistically speaking?
Not in the least. I've never gotten the feeling that anything about this quest was incongruous with the rest of the game.

Not if you keep it in your inventory. Everything you have equipped, and hold in your inventory should move with your character to the new game.
I suppose there might be an off-chance that it might get deleted as a duped item in the new game, but, personally, I've only had that happen occasionally with legit piles of 5000gp that I've dropped. I've never had anything deleted from my inventory.
But I've also never been in your particular situation, either, so I don't know first-hand how the game will handle a second elixir. Although, I've never been steered wrong by anything in Jarulf's guide.
