Well see in D2 they had all the original toons from D1 put into the story. The mage and rogue from D1 became the summoner and blood raven in D2, while the warrior turned into the dark wanderer.
They said almost every class from D2 will be in D3 somehow, as a story point. I would suspect it to at least be the sorceress, amazon, assasin, necromancer, and the barb is already in D3. Since D3 already has classes that overlap D2's archetypes, with the exception of the paladin (kind of, his auras are taken) and the druid, I don't think we will see the return of the exact same classes from D2. Maybe a hybrid, though.
