killing a prime evil forces their essence into their soulstone. destroying the stone releases or traps their essence in the abyss.
and i would prefer if tyrael not be corrupt, this is a rather over used concept, kerrigan, arthas, sylvannas, griswold, the warrior, the sorcerer, the rogue

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
go watch the fourth movie again or is it the fifth, anyway its the same movie inwhich mephistos stone is destroyed. a large hand is clearly seen smashing a stone of azure (mephisto) and one of crimson (diablo) the only stone not shown being destroyed is one of the sun (baal), but since the other two were you can pretty savely assume that storyline wise Baals stone is destroyed as well

Shard? the worldstone was only shattered into shards after Baal was befeated.
Baal was using the corrupted power of the world stone as well as his own dark maigics to stop Tyrael from entering the worldstone chamber this is weakened upon Baals defeat, allowing tyrael entry

yes that is correct, well the diablo II part anyway
in hellfire Na Krul was just a powerful servant of diablo.
yes the zelda thing is correct, there are games where she doesnt appear, but they are all called 'The Legend of Zelda:....... even 'the adventure of link'
diablo couldnt corrupt leoric properly because he was old and weak so his body became that of a living corpse, so then lazarus got the young prince albrecht
there are two lesser evil we have not meet yet;
Beliel lord of lies, and Azmodan lord of sin
and its been a while since i has said this;
people here at d3.com do realize that it is possible for the prime evil to exist without their soulstones, they have before(read the books)
the soulstones trap their essence(not the actual prime evil), and you destroyed all, yes all of them, well you did actually see baals get destroyed but since diablo's and mephisto's did you can assume baal's too, destroying a soulstone releases their essence which then returns to the burning hells(part of the nine hells) and in time the essence will reform into a prime evil. the reforming of a prime evil can take anywhere between around 100- around 1000 years
the worldstone was corrupted, and in most cases if one has prolonged exposure to something corrputed they ususally become corrputed too
(exposure to desease without the right immunizations cases you to catch the desase)
doesnt destroying the worldstone allow demons to pass freely between worlds?
also technically the sin war is continuing, it will end when either heaven or hell is defeated. it has slowed down a little since the books that are before diablo 1
(of course blizzard could just bring diablo back with no explantion just for the fun of it)
