Diablo should kidnap Cain and you as Link must rescue....

I was thinking the same thing, except there was lots of porn, even more references to All Your Bases and your weapon and shield and Spork and Spam respectfully.

I guess what we have to understand and figure out a few things;
1) The king dropped the stone, he didn't smack it around with a giant hammer from hell, so that could have something to do with it.
2) When Diablo is freed for the first time by the king, he is very weak from being idle, he does however grow his power back slowly by feeding on fear.
3) There was a rather large shard of the soulstone left, this is what the wanderer shoved in his forehead to keep the spirit of Diablo from escaping.
4) Baal did get the soulstone for power, that was for two reasons;
i) It would replenish his power a lot quicker then trying to gain it back.
ii) It would stop the possibility of him being trapped inside there again.
iii) He has figured out how to use the soulstone to his advantage.
5) I guess we have to assume what would happen if the soulstone was destroyed while a brother was still in it. Each of the brothers corrupting another being and took over their body, while some of them remained in the soulstone. (Diablo - The wanderer, Baal - Tal Rasha, Mephisto - Some holy guard in that forest)
It's all just my opinion, but I fail to see how destroying their prison would kill them (Squash a prison on earth and it might happen, but these are the prime evils =P).
what will happend when the world is at balance? saying that the human are the balance between heaven and hell.
I'm pretty sure humans were meant to be the deciding force. We chose both sides, but I think the good in us pervailed. As far as I can tell, heaven never wanted hell destroyed, that would be fruitless, *for where there is good there is always evil*. Therefore, all they want is a sort of balance. With a stale-mate, they have achieved that balance, now neither sides have the upper hand.
what happend after lod? is the world at peace?
Peace and balance are two quite different things. Balance would be, there is still battles being fought on all the realms, although hardly as decisive as having the prime evils on the mortal realm.
Peace would be no fighting at all. I can't see hell giving up. Ever. I think Balance is the more viable guess.
Izual was due a fallen angel and became evil. some say that Lucifer just was a companion for the Devil and Blizzard might have made that part for Izual, the angel in act 4.
You're a smart person. I think that is exactly what Blizzard has tried to do, except to make Tyrael god. Izual betrayed Tyrael and fell to hell... Well... it wasn't really his fault...
To be more specific, I think Tyrael is meant to be Archangle Michael, although there was never three Satans, so it is hardly a solid replica. =P
* I say this not meaning it in a sloppy sense, rather in the point that, if hell was DESTROYED for example, they would not be the evil. Rather the next most evil thing would be considered the ultimate evil... once that is destroyed, the next most evil thing would be the ultimate... that could go on until mortals and hell have been destroyed and angels are put to death for even thinking outside the box. A little extreme, but that is my little example =P.[
Perhaps Tyrael has always known exactly what he wanted to happen. Perhaps he wanted the demon souls released by destroying the soul stone... Or even the misconception was that, if Baal corrupted the world stone the three worlds would collide (hell, heaven, earth). Instead, the world stone was the only thing stopping it from happening, so Tyrael destroyed it.
Another idea is that, humans had the choice to do good or evil, right? Humans are the sort of balance... Perhaps good gets the upper hand.. after all, the prime evils are dead... Now heaven is turning it's attention towards earth, punishing mortals for the slightest of sins. It is our job to put an end to the grip heaven starts to hold. This could leave space open for a Diablo 4 where either my previous idea (Belial and Azmodan) or simply, after all the attention heaven was paying to the mortal realm, Diablo, Mephisto and Baal slowly gained power again (I'm not sure if they CAN be killed now).
I'm pretty sure there are "Zelda" games where she never shows up, only Link, the main character.
Another strange thing is, "Diablo 2, Lord of Destruction"... That is Baal's title damnit!
(A funny thing to see is when you are in act five, Diablo doesn't get much deader then he is now, though if someone joins the game it doesn't say, "Baal's minions grow stronger"... they are still Diablo's?)
One thing is for sure... Belial killed Diablo, The Wanderer killed Diablo, The Hero killed Diablo... Diablo is NOT coming back any time soon.
(Note: While I say this I do think to myself, even Belial, one of the great evils couldn't destroy Diablo entirely, only his body... The same with The Wanderer... I guess it's possible that the Prime Evils are still around, I mean it's not as if their souls are still within the soul stones... In theory, when they were shattered their souls were set free... It would be a shame to have Tyrael and Hadrael to start having nightmares.. *Evil grin* Although Diablo found it impossible to corrupt a mortal king... The general of all heavens armys would be a little harder.
For this one you need to dig a little deeper into the storyline.
Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred
Baal, the Lord of Destruction
Diablo, the Lord of Terror
These three are the prime evils, brothers and leaders of hell, they rule the lesser of the Great Evils with an iron fist. Those lesser evils are;
Azmodan, the Lord of Sin
Duriel, the Lord of Pain
Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish
Belial, the Lord of lies
There is a lot of history, basicly heaven and hell had been fighting since the start of time. A total and absolute dead lock had came around, neither power able to gain control (In essence a victory for light, because they strived for balance while the evil struggled for choas). With the coming of the mortals the universe stood still, light and dark both looked apon the new beings with anticipation, wondering which side they would join, and thus, allow to gain the upper hand. To the surprize of both sides, humans had the ability to choose their alignment. The three prime evils all knew instantly the humans were the break of the tie. Quick to learn humans were much easier and faster bent with pain then pleasure, the brothers terrorised and manipulated the humans. Light defended the helpless mortals and thus the battle (although hidden) took to the mortal realm. The lesser evils, still sqwabbling over the remains of power the brothers didn't snatch up started to question the tactics of their superiors. Convincing all hell that the brothers were weak and stupid, the legions of hell sided with the lesser evils and stood up to Diablo, Baal and Mephisto. Outraged at this trechery, the brothers fought a hopeless battle against their armys. With devistating losses to hells armys (The brothers defeated one third of all the forces of hell) the brothers collapsed, struck down to the mortal realm by the lesser evils.
(I should note here the lesser evils is really only Belial and Azmodan, Andarial and Duriel followed the brothers)
Long story short, the spirits of the brothers terrorised tristram and then the world, however all were struck down once again...
Who can tell me which of the great evils are left?
Belial, lord of lies and Azmodan, lord of sin...
Seems like the obvious sequel (If you knew this infomation).
Feedback anybody?

You could just search around for key words such as, "Prime Evils" "Lesser Evils" "Dark Exile"... Or you could just read a little summery here; http://atlas.spaceports.com/~thanatos/diablo/story1.html
