I think the longer you all debate this the more silly you realize it all is. But if some of you are really happy arguing the finer points on what makes a person appear as a particular race, carry on.
You guys MAY just be looking too far into it and missing the big point. They may want to give their characters traits like ethnicity, but these are ethnicities they are making up themselves. So their "asian", in the Sanctuary world, may not be AS asian as our asian in the real world.
They didn't make the female wizard asian and the male european. No. They just gave them both SUBTLE attributes due to creating their OWN races.
And yes, they want to make one race more "asian" and another race more "celtic" or maybe "european" because it gives character to these people, and separates one from the other. Giving them.... Wallaaa... **Charrrracterrrr**
It helps develop who they are and where they're from. But don't dig into why they look or don't look "MORE ASIAN".
You just contradicted yourself. You're telling people not to dig too deep into it but at the same time, you point out...exactly what they did.
Artists use human models and features either live, from reference, or recollection, to distinguish the character. Everything is planned out from ethnicity to the garments that match culturally with the ethnicity.
I completely agree with what your saying. Maybe my grammar and the way I speak came out too strongly in text. (Southern American here. You know us rednecks.)
But I don't think I contradicted myself. This to me, was just kind of blatant and obvious information. I didn't dig into anything. I didn't post pictures to state my point, and I didn't argue and say anyone was wrong.
Think what I'm saying is, so the nose is bigger on the female wizard, (and asians have predominately smaller noses.) Doesn't matter because they aren't trying to create and "asian", just something like it. But different.
