As for EI I didn't qualify because I was...20 hours short of the 750 mark? So I was denied after being "Terminated Without Cause" from Kitchen Stuff Plus in Feb 2009. Man did that suck. That's when I started at the job I was just at now, then I left that and came back.
Yeah, I used to work for these two before but when we moved to North York I left (gave them over a months notice) because the commute is too long. Then I had trouble finding work here, so I sent them an email and they said they need me for nights with a 6 month commitment. I had no choice between day / night shifts ._.
You live in Toronto as well, happen to know anybody hiring at this point in time Hans? Doesn't matter what type of work, I'm 21 and have done everything.
You pegged the manager right, he is a douche.
Can you talk to the owners about it?
Actually it was the owner who fired me on the word of the manager. I was just sleeping (it's 7pm I've been up since 11pm last night.) and I got a call back - the boss saw my email that the manager neglected to share, and called to apologize about the miscommunication and tell me how he'd never have fired me if he knew that, and said to call back Tuesday and let him know how I'm doing and such.
Basically I'm not fired anymore but I think I may play the "I'm afraid of the daaark" card and get a new job that doesn't require me to travel two hours each way.
Edit: The boss and his wife (or boss and her husband, depending on how you look at it) are two of the nicest people out there. I knew it was out of character for him to just let me go, but I was a bit spacey thismorning. This is the email I sent them 6 hours ago, before going to sleep and stuff, and probably the reason the called me back. Also how do you hide things with a button? Can't figure it out.
Hi *****, I don't wish to bother you with this since it was ***** who called me, but would you mind forwarding me his email address? I'd like to know if ***** forwarded the email I sent him at 4am, just so I understand if you know about what happened. I understand being let go for not going to my shift, but I assumed being knocked out and mugged would be a good enough reason to walk home (minus my jacket and metropass) in the freezing cold instead of going to work.
If you knew about that and let me go anyways, I would just like to say thank you for the opportunity to work for you again, and I don't hold anything against either one of you. You're still ranked up there as the best bosses I've had.
And this douche is a manager, not the owner. The owners are amazing and he's only a manager because he's their friend. He has no skill whatsoever. In fact he mistyped an email reply to them and sent it to me, about how "I threatened him with a police report." Fucker can't understand plain english, I said "I'll be sure to mention you in the police report."
I'm a bit luckier than the other lady who used to work with us. She was beaten up (and it was never said, but I assume raped) by like 5 guys in an alley on her way to her first shift alone. Manager got a call from the cops, I got called in to work... I feel bad for her. I got a rap on the head, she got hospitalized and is so scared of the city now she moved to her mum's place in the country.
Not yet but I don't doubt he will. The man's a douchebag, blames me for the guy who can't speak English's mistakes then tells me the same guy is a better baker than I am. Forces me to work out front even though he knows I'm colorblind and can't see a certain shade of yellow on the monitors. In my email to him explaining where I was I mentioned "You can't blame me for this, I didn't plan on getting jumped on my way to work" so we'll see how it goes.
12:30 am, go to bus stop.
1:30 am, walk to bus station, bus aint coming.
2:15 am, too late for subways and bus I need is MIA.
2:30 am, call manager, tell him I can't make it the buses stopped running, need someone to cover me. He says wait out there until 4:00 am and catch an early one.
2:45 am, doing as manager asked, waiting in North York (not an overly nice place.)
3:15 am, wake up in bushes with angry lump on head, missing metropass and watch, contents of bag on ground beside me.
Fml. Probably gonna get fired for not showing up.
Edit: I don't carry money on me at night, good thing eh?
Edit2: Watch, not wallet. I leave that at home at night.

..nearly everything.

Thanks for the heads up I'll be going to a walk in clinic later to make sure there's no concussion.
