Finished my big tower, it ended up being on a fairly large cliff. So I threw some lava on the edge of the cliff and there is a river that I made that flows into a natural lake below so it meets up and makes obsidian it's cool looking. The first floor has a lava pit to throw trash in, a large chest, a crafting bench, and an oven, the second floor has a complete 360 degree glass view (except one tile for a ladder) and the top floor is adorned with torched around the rim and a red stone torch/dust design in the middle.
Link just gave me a great idea. I'm going to climb a hill and find the biggest mountain I can and then build a huge ass tower/fort.
I already have a base on a maybe 5x5 square island, underneath it. It's pretty cool. One on a hillside looking out to the ocean, one that i burrowed straight up into a natural sand pit and I thought it looked cool so I dubbed it Antlion Sation. Then my main one is a simple layout with a huge mine shaft going wayyy down and a glass ceiling to get optimal light in the daytime all the way to the bottom of the shaft and burning any undead I happen to come upon in the day time. Also have a dock out front.
One thing that bothers me is I had this huge like... pillar... it's hard to explain, but it spawned out front and it's annoying and I need to build another tower next to it to take it down. Looks like this from the side.

Really freaking awkward. I took out what i could from the bottom and now it's just a floating chunk of crap. I wanna get rid of it.
The biggest struggle I had was building my glass roof over my mining shaft. It happened to be right below two HUGE fucking trees and I ended up having to go up and cut them all down. Learned later you can burn them, though I have pieces of trees that have been burning for at least a week in game time.
Next I'm going to attempt to make a nice tree farm, I'm having some wood problems occasionally and i don't like scaling mountains to chop down trees. My area is really beach/mountain, there is a lot to explore inland still though.
Still haven't found anymore diamond though after falling through the earth. That was on my desert island mine shaft. Lost so much stuff, thankfully I had a lot of other materials I hadn't mined and knew where to go back and get them.
I'm not really sure about snow. I don't like it personally feel like I'm playing the game near Santa's workshop, so I reloaded the map until I got none.
If it IS in the game though you could probably make a compass and sail to try to find it, leaving markers if you can.
If you're playing the latest version you can hold shift to enter sneak mode i think it is, which wont let you fall off a legde.
Yeah what is Obsidian? I never quite knew. Can someone tell me?
Obsidian is the hardest material, but it's also useless. You can mine it but as far as I know you can do nothing with it. I know you can't make tools or armor. So for now it's just to make indestructible buildings with.
Iron armor works fine for me. Diamond pick. mmmm. Chews through anything.
I have the worst luck finding underground caves. I broke into one, then made that like a second base underground and branched off in multiple directions and never found anything else. Did find some ore, but no other caves.
Because then it'lll just blow up my wall, either way I gotta rebuild stuff.
FML... I actually fell underneath the map and died, I thought it was a cave, lost all my diamond stuff I had made, lots of ladders and iron and torches.
I'd quit playing if shelters were destructible. Every night I'd have to rebuild. It's bad enough being ambushed by a creeper near my door.
I just spent like 3 hours making a mining shaft with a sun roof so I don't need as many torches in the day time and any monsters in a cave below will be set on fire.
Omg amazing... I have to say I never thought a game that had such outdated graphics could be so awesome. I haven't even played but maybe 10 minutes? I've been watching the guys series in the first video you posted. It's a nice story. Can't wait to dive in myself.

I named it "The Torch".

Should probably update your first post with the link also?
Up the difficulty and dare to go out at night. Makes things interesting.
