Well from what I've heard and read, you can control each individual party member but if you don't want the hassle of doing that you can just stay in your character and the others will fight along with you, and you can make sure they act how you want them to with detailed AI options.
I forgot to post this on here yesterday so I'll do it today.
You can play an online mini-game of Dragon Age, which allows you to get items for the game when it comes out. The game itself plays like Heroes of Might and Magic, where you have a certain amount of spaces and actions you can do per turn in combat. Its fairly entertaining and challenging.
You get the in-game items by completing achievements, quests, and filling out a survey.
I would also like to point out that this is only the first chapter and there will be more.
I agree, Neverwinter nights 2 requirements were way out of line considering the graphics were.. well.. not very great at all.
I enjoyed it, but mostly because I played it online with 2 friends.
another thing that bugs me about this so-called realistic relationship is that they are always monogamous.
what about having a harem or cheating?
although seriously i prefer not to have these so-called relationships interrupt my saving the world.
if i want to have sex in a video game i'd go play some japanese hentai games
if i want to have a relationship with pixels i'd go play Sims
So you can just choose not to in Dragon Age.
I really don't see the problem you have with this game...
Just because it's possible you feel like you have to do it?
If one of your companions tries to sex you up you can just beat some sense into them and say you have more important matters at hand i.e. saving the world etc. and go on doing that.
well, of course they are gonna say that.
Bladur's Gate didn't suffer from not having any sex.
are they implying that games without sex don't have a mature relationship
and isn't it immature to go into a relationship just for sex or that it must occur for it to be a "true" relationship?
They didn't say that, they just say it is possible if the player chooses to, and that it is up to him/her how far they are willing to take it.
Which in my opinion adds to the realism.
I myself probably won't get settled down with some medieval skank in the game, because I'm not interested in that, but I can imagine some players would be.
About the sex thing in dragon age.
This was an interesting read, I think people have the idea of a full blown porn fiasco to happen in Dragon Age, but I think there won't even be full nudity, just subtle scenes.
There was controversy over the sex scenes in Mass Effect, and now there are some in Dragon Age. It's common in films, but do videogames need scenes of this nature to portray a story?
Zeschuk: I don't think they need to have them, I think that in certain types of games it makes sense to have them. It's interesting because I think the Mass Effect thing was completely over-blown.
There wasn't even really nudity; it was like the side of a leg. I think some of the press took huge advantage of the situation. The reality was that it was the kind of stuff you'd see on evening television.
That said, I think from our perspective we want to reflect real human relationships. If you're trying to have a relationship with a character we want to reflect that and the impact of the connection with that character. And if that involves some sort of intimate scenes, we want to provide those for the player.
It's based on the fact that this is a sophisticated mature experience. The same way that a kid's anime or cartoon will have a different style of content in it than a really serious drama, this is like a serious drama. Really what we're going for in all cases is emotional engagement, some kind of impact.
I think that's not to say we should overdo it, but very simply we want to say: 'Here's a character, we want this to happen. How can we make this impactful?' Whatever comes from that, we evaluate it and put it in the game if it makes sense.
A: Yes. One of staples of BioWare stories is romance, which you can choose to pursue or not. You might find a potential love interest that you can choose to develop a relationship with, but we can't say any more than that without giving away spoilers. As always, we approach romance plots tastefully and maturely.
In any case though, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
could be good. looking forward to it. but I won't buy it, I don't support EA. hate me for it but I don't care
must buy a new rig for it though.
is it going to be similar to previous Bioware games, in the sense that you can pause in the middle of fights?
Yeah you will be able to pause in the middle of fights.
I don't really care about EA, I'll buy it anyway.
@ Valtonis
I looked for it but couldn't find one, might have missed it though...
Or they were very old.
Anyway yeah, I'm not going to play this on a console, because I have a feeling the controls will indeed be sucky/limited.
Could be proven wrong though but it would be sort of obvious because of the lack of mappable buttons.
Still on the pc it will be okay and not dumbed down because the console versions aren't exact ports from the PC version (because of the controls)
I haven't seen any over promotion of blood or sex, just the developers saying it will probably be rated M, because of the existence of both.
Even if the gore can be a little over the top, I won't be bothered enough by it to not play this.
Sex and nudity won't play a huge role in this game either, and you can probably avoid it all together if you choose to.
On the graphics part I agree, it's nothing special, just okay.
But I don't really care about the graphics as long as the game is fun.
Anyway, I could very well be wrong and you could very well be right.
I haven't really checked out all the details on this game.
Even so, I will still check this game out.
Anyone else really looking forward to this?
I sure am, it will probably keep me entertained for quite some time.
What I've seen from this game looks really awesome, I'm sure the game will take a lot of time to finish and will be full of awesome dialogue, dungeons, quests, side quests, items and basically everything that makes a RPG great.
And! the release date is coming closer! (november 3rd or 6th, depending on where you live)
That was actually pretty entertaining and very well made.
Cool beans!
