Pfft. How many times I have heard from Carlos "I have done so much for SICK, I have done this, I've been here forever."
There was this FBI agent in Twin Peaks. He was really good at forensics, like REALLY good. But he also was a TOTAL ass. So the Sheriff walks up to him and says: "I heard you are really good at what you do. Because usually, when someone walks in here acting like you do, they leave with a few lost teeth." (c) paraphrased quote
I also highly disrespect anyone with the "respect is earned" idea. Respect is what every human being should receive for being human, it is the basis of a democratic, humane society. If they mess up, they are respected a bit less, if they do something, maybe respected a bit more. The rest is just a special form of discrimination.
But disrespecting people you don't know is army standard, bandit standard, and keep that out of the normal society, please. I like to see you get a job and disrespect your coworkers.
If that's the case, there isn't much reason to be on the forum now is there? However, if you do decide to stay anyway, you can either adapt, or you can refuse and take whatever consequences that may bring about. Just as always.
Well, since the newcomers are coming to an already established community, it's up to him/her to show that they can exist together with the community.
What if the majority of the community sucks and only a few people are normal?
You know, it's like high school. It's full of idiots but they all expect you to respect them for their idiocy, while only a few people are actually worth "adapting to".
All i'm saying is we're not here to care about who respects us. All we should do is do actions which are helpful or for the benefit of others. [if gaining respect is so necessary]
Its not like you come here and i hand you a list of points for which you should respect me. won't it make you rather disrespect me.
Respect matters at all times. The fact that this is internet doesn't mean this place is "less important" or "less influential". It's a thing called good manners. Good manners when you respect people you don't know, and say hi to them, and smile to them.
Being respected on the forums is not such a big deal is it?
Meh, people should be given respect at the point of them being unidentified. The whole idea of "earning respect" is complete bullcrap. Some new member has to earn respect? From whom? What about THOSE people earn HIS respect, first?
Same shit in real life. Lack of cooperation never got anyone too far, people.
