Has anyone had any experience with Beats by Dr. Dre?
I realize they are probably overpriced, but I'm considering them + microphone stand as others have suggested. I would really like something that I can wear anywhere I want instead of just around my computer.
My girlfriend has them.
For an unknown reason they don't work on my computer while they work fine on ipod etc. But let's just say wtf and ignore this, I don't want to say they never work on computers
My thoughts on them:
-first they are overpriced. You'll get better out of sennheiser or other professional audio devices for an equivalent price.
-well like my first point, I feel the quality is definetly not on par with the price. I personally own AT700 headphones and my sound is a lot more clearer for a wide variety of frequencies.
-The sound isolation is good. You won't hear outside noises with them, this is mainly due to them being quite tight on the head and leather pads. I personaly am not interested in that, also it hurst my ears pretty badly after even short sessions because of this tightness+leather pad. In comparison my AT700 is so light on the head I barely notice them.
-Bass is heavily boosted. For me I hate it, I always feel like it is a way to cover poor sound quality for details. But this is a matter of taste, some people like listening to music as if they were in a nightclub...
-Beats looks cool. That is the main point of them, they are tendance. And if you go for them you will buy it mainly to look cool, even though it makes my ear bleed.
Conclusion:
If you want to pour 200$+ in headphones get one of those:
- AT700 Audio Technica (sometimes below 200)
- Sennheiser HD595, HD 598, HD 600 (better if you listen to a lot of music, want better isolation and bass, more pricey)
There are others but you cannot go wrong with these.
I just saw you asked for being able to move with them. The AT700 looks weird and is pretty big so I would rule that one out. The Beats have the advantage of being pliable making it fit in its tiny case. Sennheiser headphones look better than the AT700 but they are not as transportable as the beats.

Then you go to a friend house and listen to music through his headset and it sounds like shit
