You know, I don't want swords in Diablo 3. Swords are too similar to light sabers, and I don't want Diablo 3 to be Starwars! No Diablowars!
Makes no sense? Niether does this idea that your going to have these modern guns in Diablo 3. Historical guns and historical swords, not miniguns and light sabers. Dumbasses...
I don't think they are. The LoD manual concept art is pretty Asian looking though, at least armor and weapon wise.
The Assassins as just mages trained to kill mages I think.
To ensure what happened with Bartuc and Horazon never happens again the Order of the Mage Slayers was created.
I got the manual next to me but I don't feel like typing out the whole page.
They arn't mages, they are forbidden from magic, and they use devices that use magic instead of using it themselves so they can't be corrupted like the mages.
Just doesnt work for me at all...just detracts from the visceral, gettin-close-n-personal feel that D3's trying to achieve
Because when the barbarian hits the ground and the seismic force brings the wall down, that's up close and personal. Because the summons of the Witch Doctor and the ward that scares monsters away helps the Witch Doctor get up close and personal.

Eh... then distance spells and bows detract from that feel also?
Fuck...
Ya beat me to that, ya bastard...
Anyway, you reskin that weapon in Mythos as a crossbow and nobody would care, you skin it as a gun and everybody cries. Stupid little... *Mumbles off to himself.*
Well Intri (forgive me for not spelling your entire name out) I think that may be going a bit too advanced, plus you have to look at Blizz's balancing abilities.
Also a siege cannon would be too heavy for 3 or 4 people to carry, let alone tossing it on your back. Think those cannons used on castle walls here...
And on a thirc note, crossbows were in both halflife as well as D2, but that didnt make D2 a shooting game, now did it?
If they have guns, than they have to have dwarves.... but then it becomes more like a certain other blizzard game
Can you introduce me to the goddamned gnome dwarf whatever in real life that made guns in real life?
Don't make me add your name with Shelled...

They should have one unique wand that is actually a gun, it would be called the boomstick.
That makes no sense.
Anyway, back on topic, the reason I bring up the javalins is that javalins are a precurser to hand cannons. It only makes sense that if bows or crossbows have explosive qualities then javalins already had them, thus pushing us closer and closer to the possibility of a siege cannon, which would be another step closer to the idea of a hand cannon. I do believe though that when we reach the hand cannons, I believe that after that game, so that it doesn't get too modern, Blizzard will move to prequils.
Even MORE compelling arguments. These two must of gone to Harvard!

The problem is not that the name or the content of this thread that leaves all these nonsense posts. It's the people that like diablo and have decided to come to these forums to some how contribute but lack the ability to sit down for 5 minutes and write out an extended opinion, even folks in colleges are incapable to some how contribute. These folks with their short blunt responses ought to just not come to forums, they're not going to generate interest for themselves unless they're trying to troll, which is why I wonder what most of these folks are really thinking, I mean it kind of goes with out saying to read the first freaking post before saying ANYTHING, even a 15 year old that is convinced they love Blizzard games because they own a WoW account, ought to have the ability to read, hopefully.
Someone once said that they believe these anti-WoW people are actually obsessed with WoW as they are not able to play WoW. I am inclined to agree. But that is niether here nor there.
My oppinion is that siege cannons shall be first. I believe siege cannons will be around in D3. I can see hand cannons in D3, but it isn't the most likely of new weaponry, as there will be many new types of weapons. That is not to say that I am going to make a petition one way or the other.
My prediction:
D3-Siege Cannon
D4-Hand Cannon
I cannot see them going any more advanced past hand cannons. It is just illogical.

I updated the OP with a little more info and some more pictures by the way.
Nice new pictures. The last one kinda confused me at first though, but I got it after looking at it for a sec.
I like the one under the one I posted. (Off Topic: Yea, and I know it's even from the Photobucket album of "AlphaLinkX". That's me. ;D )
i understand both sides of the arguement however i hate guns in games like this (mythos)
guns take away from the personal aspects of slaying a foe more so than bows and crossbows even.
But magic is fine?...
Are you saying you only want melee classes like the melee version of the druid, the melee version of the paladin, the melee version of the assassin, and the barbarian?
i dont see guns being practical at all considering the early fire arms took forever to reload ... also their terrible accuracy
But that's what we were talking about a few posts up. Crossbows took forever to reload, and if you can use magic to make a arrow chase a person down, you can certainly use magic to make your accuracy better.
And just for the record, dexterity does NOT help your aiming a bow. I should know...
They do to a certain extent with bows, not so much crossbows, as it takes 4 times as long to reload a crossbow than it does a bow.
Yet, you see both weapons shooting once every tenth of a second...

The action of firing an arrow from a bow leaves one hand virtually next to the quiver to grab the next arrow to be fired.
Depending on what kind of quiver I have. For example, I just purchased a bow and a quiver and arrows, and the quiver goes on the waist, thus it would not leave one hand virtually next to the quiver.

I do not even recall any lighting of a fuse in WOW.
There was none. >.< There was an aiming part, but no lighting of a fuse.

Here's my biased opinion.
Hell no please
And why do you feel that way?
NEW RULE:
When you say you do or don't like the idea, you must give a reason as to why you do and/or don't.
Having "Shelledfade, shut up." in my signature saves me the time of having to type it in every post I have. Much easier that way.
Back on topic, explosives are already around, as you can see from the exploding potions. They obviously understand different amounts as too much or too little in the bottles would make it unstable. It makes sense that it would be a logical step. Perhaps not directly to handcannons, but rather siege cannons, then hand cannons.

Enjoy.

And yes, the items are strongly asian-based.
The assassin never really striked me as asian...
But yes, it did look pretty fun. I tried to find the demo but found that it was canceled.

Look at Wow and D2. Both have classes that are overpowered and underpowered. Starcraft has the same problem, though not as bad.
When guns come to Sanctuary, the need to be like every other weapon.
Also a siege cannon would be too heavy for 3 or 4 people to carry, let alone tossing it on your back. Think those cannons used on castle walls here...

Or city walls...
Also, what about explosive javalins? Precurser to the idea that you are talking about...
Well, never before in Diablo was there a seperate leg armour slot, but you apaprently accepted that without screaming "WOW INVASION"...
Very VERY compelling argument.
