Situation 1: Ryan is lying. What a jackass!
|
*Situation 1.b: Ryan works for blizzard, and is generating hype for the game. Truth and lies do not matter. His mission is attention. He has accomplished his task.*
Situation 2: Ryan's contacts are lying. Shit on a stick! No one will believe this excuse even if it were true. It is impossible to prove.
Situation 3: Ryan is telling <50% truth. Nice estimation!
Situation 4: Ryan is telling >50% truth. His sources were reliable.
*Situation 1.b could also be applied to Situation 3 and 4.
Therefore, I would say there is a 60% chance ryan works for Blizzard. Spreading true and false rumors to generate hype. There is also a 20% chance that Ryan is lying himself, or his contacts are lying. Finally a 10% chance Ryan is telling the truth.
Based on these percentages, When Blizzard does release information about D3, I am going to bet that 10% of Ryans information will be accurate.
I think bits and pieces are accurate. I would say some spells might be true. The whip weapon is true. About 5% - 10% of the story is true.
So, why do I think ryan works at blizzard and will revealed about 10% of truth??????
THINK ABOUT IT!
There is very intricate information here. Classes, Spells, but most importantly, the story. That is one crazy story. A story so crazy, so insane, that it just might be believable. Why... because a Blizzard employee wrote it. I wouldnt be suprised if that was the first part of the first draft of the D3 story.
Ryan joined in October of 06, he gained a nice post count to get credibility, and the posted this thread when the time was right.
Like it or not, Blizzard, as well as other companies have leak schedules to generate hype. This was a strategic move by Blizz. They wanted some hype going into the holiday season and the new year. Making gamers anxious of what is in store for 2007.
Blizzard said there will be 3 big annoucements in 07.
1. Diablo 3
2. Starcraft 2
3. World of Warcraft: Expansion 2
Anyways, this is the most logical conclusion. Ryan works for Blizz. But then again, maybe I do too...!?
The story sounds very very shakey... even at best. If that is true (which i do not think it is) Blizzard is pulling shit out of their ass to extend the story. It would make more sense for the 3rd to be a prequel.
Wooden staff??? Malet??? Short Blade??? Arnt they already weapons in D2?
Whip I must say is believable. Dedicating a whole class to it is believable as well. Just look at the Assasin and katars...
All the classes are believable except one. The Chronomancer. I have a hard time seeing how slowing down time would work in multiplay. The only way I can see it is, in that perticular zone, the time is slowed. Or, if it is like a necromancers curse, where only the targeted area is slown down.
With everything I have witnessed, I am going to give all the information so far a truth rating of...
5/10
The crap about loading characters and the potion animation, along with the story and the chronomancer makes me believe this is all a bunch of shit. However, some stuff makes sense. But its nothing any one of us couldnt of come up with and faked.
Dude, there is proof everywhere. Even I have proof. You guys just want specifics...
I go to school for Game Design and one of my teachers worked at blizz on Starcraft And Broodwar, then she left to make her own RPG. She still talks to her friends at Blizz. She said they are working on D3.
My step aunt works for HP, and deals with Blizzard all the time. She sells them their comps (and servers I believe...?). Anyway she good friends with Mike Morhaime (Blizz Pres). She says D3 is being worked on.
There is your proof. D3 is being worked on. But, like i said. We already knew that. We want to know more specific stuff to get us excited. Like how many acts, classes, story...
exp u drink a potion ur char actually grabs potion from belt and drinks it on screen
This would never be in Diablo 3. If that were the case, you could never power down potions and continue attacking at the same time. You would have to wait for the Animation to end, before you started to attack again. That is very Un-Diablo-like.
Titan's quest did this, and it slowed down the Gameplay so much.
The only way I could see this happening is if you were in town, and that were the only place it would play the animation. So if you took a potion in a hostile enviorment i.e. Blood Moor, it wouldnt play the Animation.
This is highly unlikely. They wouldnt spend time making the animation just so it could be seen in town and not where else. Especially when there is a healer in town i.e. Akara and there is no need to use a potion at all.
We all know that the converting D2 chars to D3 chars is bogus, and i have a hard time thinking of interesting spell ideas for the Chronomancer, (Blizzard wouldnt make an interesting char like the Chronomancer and make his spells like Time beam [a beam of time that hurts enemies]) I could see Chronomancer in a single player game, where you could technically go backwards in time ingame, but multiplayer games, this would be impossible.
And starting off in Harogath seems kind of like a weak beginning to such a prestigious title.
All of this leads me to believe that General_Ryan and/or his accomplices could be just tooting their own horn.
D2 existing chars will not be transferrable to D3.
I think what that meant was, the classes will transfer over.
Rumored Class list for D3
-----------------------
Warrior
Sorcerer
Rouge
Monk
Amazon
Barbarian
Paladin
Sorceress
Necromancer
Assassin
Druid
Chronomancer
Demontamer//Beastmaster
Templar
Warlock
Fighter
It is silly to think you can convert a D2 char into D3. However, if D2 classes are available in D3, it is possible to recreate your char from D2. Just level up your char allocated the skills and stats just like you had in D2.
A screenshot being leaked will not do anything. I can get into the whole idea where companies purposley leak information (or false information) to generate hype. For all we know, General Ryan works for blizz and is apart of the leak team, following the leak schedule.
If you think about it, if the first thing about Diablo 3 is a screenshot, it is hype genius for blizzard.
Blizzard releases a screenshot, and for months that is all that is know about D3. That screenshot would become one of the most anaylized screenie, making so famous... making D3 famous.
Either way, the information that was givin is 100% interesting. If it wasnt, I guarantee that the Lords would of said it is a fraud.
I believe that they are hesitating to release the info, or they are trying to figure out if it is legit. Either way, like I said, it is 100% interesting.
I know a person who worked on Starcraft//Brood War. She is a game designer. After E3 2005, she met up with some of her old blizz friends, and they told her that her new game reminded them of D3.

This is not the full class list, even if those 6 are true. If it were just these six, who would use a bow?
Wooden staff??? Malet??? Short Blade??? Arnt they already weapons in D2?

Class Comparison
Chronomancer = Necromancer/Sorceress Hybrid
Monster Tamer = Necromancer/Assasin Hybrid
Templar = Paladin/Barbarian/Necro Curses Hybrid
Warlock = Druid/Sorceress Hybrid
Fighter = Barbarian/Assasin Hybrid

The only reason making an animation is a bad idea is because it slows the gameplay down. D1/D2 didnt have it. D3 shouldnt have it either.

The hype machine... Got to love it.
Cant wait to see how this turns out.
If you guys are dying, maybe watching the Zelda Movie Trailer would help pass the time?

I know if the WoW movie is a sucess, there will be Starcraft and Diablo films.
I believe that they are hesitating to release the info, or they are trying to figure out if it is legit. Either way, like I said, it is 100% interesting.

This is her game:

I can tell you this.
I know for certain D3 was finished, but was re-evaluated. That was part of the reason why Blizz North moved to Blizz south.
I am really anxious to see D3 (since D2 is my fav game).
