I like the idea of hybrid classes, but not when every thing you do is judged and your class is chosen by the game. There should be unique experience gained for using specific attacks or techniques, but the entire game shouldn't revolve around it. That concept ruined my experience with Dungeon Siege II; it was like I was being punished for using the heal spell as a warrior.
My idea is to allow the class to be chosen fromt the start, but allowing it to evolve into more defined focuses. On the 1 - 100 level scale, the class should be able to evolve at certain intervals, such as every 10 or 20 levels.
