Blizzard tends to host a major gaming event to annouce a new title;
WWI 2007 was hosted in South Korea, (Starcraft's biggest fan-base).
WWI 2008 is being hosted in France, (Diablo's biggest fan-base).
WWI 2007 FAQ: "When was the Worldwide Invitational? The Worldwide Invitational was held on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20.
Starcraft "and" Starcraft: Broodwar, were both released in March. (North America and PAL territories respectively).
This year's WWI 2008 also happens to be hosted in the same month (the same birthday, *Diablo loot pinata cough* even), for the Diablo franchise.
Will Diablo 3 be annouced? Not necessarily. A Diablo-type game looks to indeed suffice. It "could" be Diablo 3, a Diablo MMO, Diablo go-kart racing, or Diablo-Hello Kitty. Heck, it could just be a major gaming event to annouce plush toys and a D2 patch.
"However", this is the heavily rumored Diablo 3; so why not go play Hellgate: London? Remember, this is no longer "just" Blizzard Entertainment; their now backed by Vivendi and Activision as well.
Blizzard's been known for their quality vs. quantity. However, it's been nearly a decade since they revolutionized the gaming industry.

You guys are fucking idiots. It's well known that Blizzard is buying all the Diablo.com domains. This isn't news worthy of a 14 day wait, it is a betrayal of trust.
No... Blizzard bought diablo3.com and *merged* it into their network. I'm beginning to question your I.Q..
the merge he was talking about was a merger of the fan sites (which did not happen). Also IMO this is pretty big news, maybe not to you but to me it is.

I expected more , but I think it's worth 7 years of waiting , it's 5 am in France and I've been waiting all night xD
But I still believe there's other information , maybe I'll stay up to see what's going to happen in a few hours .
If Blizzard officially announce the game , I'm dropping off school LOL
you live in france? you should have planned to go to blizzards WWI. (even if you're not near paris it's a lot closer than i am lol)

Am i the only person pissed about the hype ? Yeah i get it its a domain acquisition , but this news wasn't worth 2 weeks of waiting and of hinting/poking diablo fans. I've all ways felt that umaro wouldn't do the same to other diablo fans as would blizzard do onto us (poke us to death with hints/rumors)
Truth be told , we don't have anything right now but a domain purchase verification. It could mean diablo3 is coming or it could mean that blizzard is just protecting the franchise , so don't get your panties in a bunch and wait for 29th of june.
What were you expecting? you knew that this wasn't an official announcement and in the two weeks coming up to the announcement most people (at least it's what i saw) came to the conclusion that blizzard was taking over Diablo3.com.

i wouldn't be laughing that's for sure. but even if this is the case it's not the end of the world. Blizzard plans to go back to diablo at some point so until then we'll just have to be patient

all we can do is wait. there have been so many hints that a diablo game is in the works. right now we KNOW that SC2 is in development, we KNOW that WoltK is in the works. what we DONT KNOW is the "Top Secret" project that the diablo teams have been working on. i don't know about you guys but to me this looks like some sort of diablo project since Starcraft and Warcraft are being covered. just my 2 cents.

It's not a question of IF but a question of WHEN! when do you ask? well i don't know, but it looks good that we'll hear something about all this razz ma tazz at the WWI.

I think why blizz is doing this is because they're trying to buy out and take all the diablo 3 related impostant damains with alot of fans(like this one) and then in a couple of month turn them by pointing the url to the blizz home page, basically just destroying it. So that there are no hopes for D3, because, for instance, they're not even thinking about Diablo anymore. Its not me being pesimistic , but it's what it looks like, i mean look at all the other diablo 3 related sites that were bought off.. they all point to blizzard.com. Think about it, sorry if I offended anyone lol.
you're entitled to believe what you will but i don't think that is true at all. Even Richard Knaack said that he "wasn't writing for a dead world" and the evidence that blizzard is working on something related to diablo is compelling.

True but why would half the web link to dliablo3 to a domain take over ?
Because in a lot of people's (gaming sites) eyes this is huge. Also MD or Umaro, i can't remember which, said that "Half the web" was a little exaggerated and it was more like "Half the gaming sites."

We're missing the point, why would Umaro need to send emails to all the gaming websites for this news? Why would "half the internet" link to diablo3.com in 14 days? (that's now) Just because of them aquiring the website? I doubt it.
Either it's hugely overhyped, or they haven't released everything yet. (I would keep Diablo3.com in your eyes the comming few hours)
don't get your hopes up. believe it or not this is probably it, take what you want from it.
