What does Blizzard gain by lying about where they are in production? If they say they are early on in development, I believe them. They have no reason to lie.
Non season. Purely because I don't understand enough about seasonal play.
It does appeal to me tho, focus on new chars, (played wiz n monk since season 3 when I discovered Diablo!)
new start, new grind and new targets.
This game has well n truly got its claws into me and season play looks like a way to keep things fresh and make the experience of Diablo last longer.
Am I correct in this way of thinking or am I getting the wrong end of the stick...?
Yep. You start over with nothing, and build from the start, and see how far you can get.
It's mostly attractive for those of us who have played non-season a fair bit and would rather enjoy the build up again then the long term play of refining gear.
It depends on your own progression, and how much time you have and how much you enjoy the grind from level 1 to being able to do a Greater Rift at 70 or something.
If you are interested you should just try it once and see how you feel about it. Everything you collect on Season will get transferred to non-season after the season is over, so it's never wasted effort.
Are you going to make a sprint for the stash tab or are you even going to skip that?
What did you play in the previous five patches (season or NS)?
What's your reason to play season or non-season in 2.4.1, respectively?
What factors are most important for your decision (what streamers do, what your clan does, what your friends list does, where the perceived majority of players is, where leaderboards are easier to reach/more contested, or what this poll tells you ;-))?
1) I'll definitely play till I have the stash tab. I fizzeled out when I got it this season, but the conquests are easier and less time consuming for S6, so I'll probably stick around to complete the journey this time.
2) Played every season to get the rewards, always play WD. I've played increasingly more the last few seasons, since the content was more fun and the progression stayed meaningful for longer.
3) Always play season, it's just fun to start over and have that winding road through the different gear and builds again till you hit the end where you stop progressing mostly and just push with your main build to get results.
4) I only look at what I feel like doing, and what 1 or 2 friends are doing. But the basics for all of us are the same, we play together when we're online, and we play seasonal cause it's more fun. Classes we play are more fluid. I always pick WD, others play different things sometimes. We don't hold eachother back in that regard though. We don't really chase meta group compositions or anything.
I like the change. It was strictly a punishment for non-season players, making it so they didn't have build defining items, and they effectively replaced the incentive for doing seasons by adding cosmetic stuff like portraits, pennants and pets. I think it's fine this way, there's plenty of incentive to run seasons, and everyone gets to play with fun and build defining items that get added.
I doubt they'd screw up the schedule to the point where they forgot to add Diablo panels. That's pretty much the basics you start with, especially for a big release.
Also, they announced RoS at Gamescom and vanilla D3 was initially announced at Blizz's attempt at a european Blizzcon at the World Wide Invitational in 2008. So they've never announced anything at Blizzcon itsself. So, I don;t think it's unlikely they do an announcement later, at one of the Pax conventions or at Gamescom again.
About the "D3 is not WOW" thing. That's true, but if you have this many people that indicate that they'd like to see some expansion sized new content in D3, it makes every bit of sense for Blizz to provide it. Golden opportunity to get a ton of cash from box sales again. In that sense, if profitability was an issue they'd have started on a new expansion long ago, to make more money. The fact they haven't, to me, shows D3 is plenty profitable still. But I'm sure Blizz has an excellent financial department that tells them when it's a good idea to get a new expansion out, from a financial persepctive. Apparently that moment is not yet here.
I'm loving all of this negativity in this thread so far. You realize that RoS wasn't announced at BlizzCon yes? So they don't reveal an expansion at BlizzCon, there are several other gaming expos that they could announce an expansion during. I mean we already know that they brought in new people for a Diablo franchise project.
People just want to know what the next expansion is. RoS was announced in August 2013, released in March 2014. That means the time frame puts it so the next expansion will have been released more then 2 years after the previous one. That's quite a long time, even with seasons and patches adding content.
Adding the Cube was a genius move, but it did not alter the content we are playing itself, nor the classes we are playing with. There's only so much repeating the current content you can do before it gets stale. I'm guessing judging by the reactions that for many people that time has just about come. We need a major shake up, which an expansion would provide. Adding a whole new act and a new class would begin a new age of replayability for many people.
So it's perfectly understandable people are upset that there's apparently no announcements yet, at a time that seemed perfect to make one. It's just disappointment.
Not what I expected of the schedule. Even if they do a reveal, we'd still only get 1 panel worth of actual information. Given that this probably means there's not going to be any reveal, period, I'm a bit annoyed. This 1 panel we are getting better be filled to the brim with exciting information. =/
I don't care what new class they introduce but there needs to be one. It's one of the main expansion sellers to be able to play the game but in a different way again.
I think that the new class will probably be similar to how WD is sort of a Necro, but in a reimagined way, and Crusader is a Paladin, but in a reimagined way. I don't think you can say "Oh, can't be Amazon, cause only women" cause that's no barrier for Blizzard, they'll make something up so it works for men as well. Same thing for other problems, Blizzard can make things work if they feel there's something cool they can do. (Just have to look at WoW getting Demon Hunters for plenty of examples of that.)
Personally I kind of like the idea of a naturey shapeshifter type class. Doesn't matter if they call it a druid or not.
Posted 20 min ago as a reaction to the disconnect we had. They're working on it, but it's basically a Telia issue that's mostly out of their hands. Doesn't really have anything to do with the lag issues we normally have.
I'll probably try and get the new Spider set and screw around with that, at least in season, and god knows what kind of stuff will be best to cube for that. Looking around the web and on Dfans it seems like Furnace and Unity are high on the list for most builds, so I'm guessing I'll look at those to start. If I can get a Furnace to drop that is... *grumble*
I agree that either you should get more from salvaging or that they would be a bit more abundant. I also wouldn't mind a system that would involve crafting up or down for mats. For example, if you wanted a forgotten soul you could craft one from like 50-100 veiled crystals. I just love having well over 10k veiled crystals and over 2k souls and like 500 arcane dust lol.
I'd settle for a system that worked just down right now. I can imagine Blizz not wanting us to farm endless crystals and turn them into Souls just for crafting, but if the system only worked down we'd at least have a decent way to get stuff we need, while still always aiming to get the best stuff available.
Got my MoJ after about a week of shard farming and gambling from Kadala. I still needed RoRG as well at that point, so I worked towards 2 goals by just running bounties and Rifts.
Need Quetzalcoatl now for my dot build and hopefully a better RORG, so back to the grind for me doing the same thing.

Should be fixed, Poultron. Nice guide!

I have fond memories of when I got my Skorn and how much more damage I did with it. I'll support any vote that gets it the attention it deserves.
