In the end, a AH is better because it allows people to have fairer trades. In Diablo II, sometimes it's impossible to get what you want for a fair price simply because you have no alternatives. I'm having a nightmare trying to get a 4os eth ca or cv right now and I'm offering bers, ists, mals, BK's, arachs, and wisps. People will milk you dry.
With an AH, we can see prices so we have a ground for saying, no, that price is outrageous. We can see our options. We can get trades done faster because people who want what you have will be able to search for it with ease.
If this could be accessed at any time, whether ingame or not, it would be that much better. That way if you're levelling, you won't be missing out on the trade action. A complimentary peer-to-peer trading function for ingame purposes would still have to go alongside it, though.
I'm 110% sure that they will not remove the 1 on 1 trading interface.. that wouldn't make any sense at all. I was just assuming that they would be adding something on TOP of that.
question: Any info about how the trade system will work? Will there be a complete system where we won't rely on forums or set up trade games?
@diablo: Not yet, but it's something we're deeply involved in developing.
I wasn't aware that this was in the works.. that's awesome! Any ideas of what it would be? Similar to the auction house? That would definitely force gold to be a real currency.
If you're looking for information from some strategy guides, this might help you. If not, well... Sorry for wasting your time :whistling:
My basic approach to getting a new account geared-up is this:
1) Create a crappy Blizz sorce with high MF (P Topazes, Rhyme, w/e)
2) Grind Hell Andy/Mephy
3) Work way up to partial Tal's (Armor/Ammy/Belt), Shako, Occy, Spirit Shield
4) More Hell grinding of Andy and Mephy (I add Duriel here because he has the best chance to drop Facets)
5) Trade in findings for Hammerdin gear (Enigma, among other things)
6) Work on a good Hammerdin, start grinding Andy, Mephy, Trav, Chaos, Countess.
7) Trade in Hammerdin gear for Infinity for merc
8) Make a Lite sorce
9) Grind mini bosses for pandemonium keys and trade in batches for HR's
10) Perfect Lite Sorce with HR's from #9
11) Use my new-found godliness to run runs, rush people for free, make new friends, etc.
(new ladder, start over)
And that's how I do it. Every time. And it always works.
Whats your crappy blizz sorc build for no gear... max bliz + max all 3 syn + max cold mastery + 1 teleport?
What will I need my str/dex at as I (slowly) start acquiring better-than-yellow;) gear
Coming back to a fresh account, I knew I would have to start the long climb back to great gear. I made a sorc and have leveled her through baal runs and so on to 61 as an Orb sorc.... and I have all of my resets still available.
My question: I know that orb sorc isn't really the best for hell runs so what should I respect to with basically NO gear so I can start killing bosses in hell and acquiring gear (I'm planning on leveling more in NM baal runs but I figured I'd get a head start on research)
I guess I'm confused. In d2 the main restrictions were US West / US East, right? I thought those were done away with in d3. So what servers are you guys talking about?
All I know is that once the game comes out, everyone is going to be very thankful that they took their time and did everything the best they could. It's going to be an amazing and polished game. I'm sure everyone has something they can focus their life on atm while they are waiting, because god knows we are going to waste waaaay too much time playing it once it comes out
I think it's going to be a combo between WoW and SCII. Name with unique id for the account and unique character names for the characters on each server.
I tried searching for this and couldn't find anything concrete.
I think we are all expecting D3 to have a ton of players, and this time it sounds like there will be A. no USEast/West or even ladders to separate groups of characters and B. that characters will not be deleted after 90+ days of inactivity.
I think both of these changes are great, don't get me wrong. I'm going to love having all of my (at least US) friends available to play with all the time. I'm also going to love not having to log in every 80 days if I'm taking a break to make sure I don't lose my character/gear.
What worries me, though, is the finite amount of legitimate names people can use. Sure.. it's a pretty huuuge list, but I suspect there will be enough players and alts where almost every good name will be used up.. and without any different zones or servers, there's not much we can do to try out names somewhere else. If it's used it's used.
so my question is... Are they going to do character names like they did the SC2 names? Meaning, will two different people be able to make a character name and just have the difference be some kind of ID code? I hope this is the case, because I remember coming into d2 late and most cool names were taken on both servers and I suspect this game will be even more popular.
I know it sounds like a very vain question / idea but I hated running around with prefaces like sorc or any subset skill group as a part of my name.
Thanks
