Well, to be fair, 95% of uniques in D2 were terrible end game as well. And this is after LOD made them more useful (correct me if I'm wrong, but vanilla D2 only had uniques in the normal version of items).
Yep that's correct.
I wouldn't want it to be like late LOD though where a handful of items were BiS (mostly runewords and sets with a few high end uniques) so everyone wore those and everything else in the game was junk (all rares for example). It's going to be hard for Blizzard to balance random items against fixed ones.
Going to go ahead and disagree, best rings/ammys tended to be rares... aka any of the dual leech rings, etc Also before the really good runewords were released, there were several options for BiS weapons depending on budget such as the CCB
Go ahead, prove me wrong.
The game is a disgrace to Diablo 1 and 2.
1. Itemization - fail (no need to explain)
A bit yes, they do need to make some tweaks, you clearly never played Vanilla D2, lol.
2. AH - ruined the need to farm gear and that warm feeling when you get an upgrade.
Dont use it? Were you forced to use D2JSP in D2? Get some self control.
3. Randomization - failed, no need to explain, but I did give an example in my original post. You know it failed when you know where you have to go.
This is humorus, there is more randomization in D3 then D2 ever had, by a long shot, this is literally the stupidest complaint leveled against D3, have you ever played D2?
4. Characters - Barbarians forced into 1h + shield, monks forced into 1h + shield. Wizards Force Armor rune was OP, then devs broke it on purpose a long time ago and still have not fixed it - LOL. One of many examples.
To an extent you are correct, but the Inferno damage nerf is incoming, so less focus on defense will be required.
5. Gameplay - I log in, I kill few champions, get 5 stacks, do Siegebreaker run, get lvl 55 rares (LOL!), grow tired of it, log off.
Log in, do 5546 Baal/Mephy runs, get 1 good item. Yeah, you clearly never played D2 ever.
well said, but now its get 5 stacks of NV and do inferno ponies
i have 70 hours played, found Maloth's Focus in A1 inferno in the dungeon just after leoric's manor (forgot name) and I found Messerschmidt's Reaver in A1 inferno as well during the drowned temple quest.
I know the drop should be low, I agree with that.. but come on... at least give me 1 or 2 legendaries per dificulty...
i personally think legendaries across the board need to be buffed to be marginally ~5%? better than an equivalent rare/magic etc, thus justifying their rarity. i personally found Maloth's Focus and Messerschmidt's Reaver... both which are on the AH for 100k
I know that I probably in the minority, but I am kind of glad the immortal build was nerfed as a mage. It was kind of play on game mechanics that was inventive for sure, but I would rather use skills vs. modified mechanics. Not saying that this did not require skill and planning, but it would be nice to utilize other builds and make them viable.
I agree with this. I've been playing it, but I really didn't like it. Certain things still just gibbed you, like any kind of dot. It made it feel very inconsistent, like you were nearly invulnerable to certain things and then died instantly to others. I like the more consistent feel from having a balanced build.
that was also one of the drawbacks, smaller hits would destroy your small hp pool. now your back to being forced to basically stack vit to live in inferno or accepting the fact that you're gonna get insta-gibbed... which seems stupid
my friend as best buy told me the store closest to me has 2-3 CE that aren't for preorders... so maybe you can hop to the closest one get it, then return the one you get on the 16th, if it's at all viable?
It's not perfect, but when I logged in and joined a random public channel there were tons of people talking It's not the same as old Bnet but it's at least something.
Total DPS of a character does not incorporate a players skill, attack rotation, rage / mana management etc.
This is Diablo... there are no attack rotations. It's a HACK AND SLASH. Have you even played d1/d2 at all?!?! Or any other hack and slash for that matter... nothing to do with the WoW factor, it's mixing game genres
I"m not really excited about the unique mods right now, specialy in uniques.
I was expecting for totally CRAZY stuff like:
* Reduces the speed of all nearby enemies
* % chance to instant kill enemies (deals 10% HP damage vs. bosses and uniques)
* % chance on hit to automatically use any of your skills without using energy or activating cooldowns (wizard and wd only)
I think unques should have really unique effect, nalmost like an passive skill.
You can't make items that powerful or you make them the only item anyone will ever use, which is exactly what Blizzard is trying to avoid.
Infinity anyone?
It's not a matter of power, it's a matter of variety.
They can easilly add those mods and still make everything balanced. You just have to pick the right x% number for proc rates, the right amount of damaged reduction, etc...
I just think choosing items should more comlex then pick 3~4 mods and choose the items with the highest values.
A lot of people already said that this is D3 base game... most of the super crazy attributes on items didn't occur till LoD. Also ever thought that maybe "Unique" item means high end super rare and not oh uber crazy special abilities? Yeah, it might be interesting and fun... but that shouldn't turn you off the game.

That's an INSANE axe... you are quite lucky lol
I'm using a 780 dps 2h which puts me at about 18k with force weapon
