Hrm, Tearhaunches are a possibility if you're looking to boost Hammer damage as opposed to other stats, which is usually a good thing.

Yeah I'd say so, since Hammerdin damage is already through-the-roof, and can be further boosted by charms...COA really helps your tanking ability, with the 31% DR that you just can't get elsewhere (remember it's applied AFTER armor and resistances), along with the extra resist all (which you need in hell), faster hit recovery and defense....it really helps your tanking ability. You can always improve upon damage with charms, though thats not necessary since hes already the highest damage dealer.
That's fine if they want to sell it but they would not be able to sell them to other players only vendor trash them. This would give people the opportunity to respec if they wanted and the other players just get some gold.
The item would drop vary rarely and balanced enough so that you would only get 1 every two-three levels worth of game time. That way you would still have to plan out your build but if you made a mistake, it would not break your character.
Are you suggesting that the item must remain equipped or the respec will roll back? If that were the case, it would essentially be useless...because it would be replacing a tier 1 item, meaning that mistakes could not be taken back without "ruining" the character...and in that case, I'd be all for it simply because I hate the idea of respeccing to begin with (lol).
If the respec item were a consumable item, I think that makes it a more logical way to administer respecs....but....it has to be a lot more rare than once every 2 or 3 character levels. Most likely you don't even want to respec at all until reaching at least like level 30 which means by that time you've already 15 respec items...making it an extremely commonplace item equivalent to about "2 chipped gems." If its there, it should have more the rarity of about a Shael rune.
As I understand it, from what we've already been told, D3 will be one big open world...with the positions of towns fixed, and the dead space between towns having some randomized tiles to provide new encounters but without changing the overall pathway from one town to the next.
I think there will still be "acts" as in, a consistent geographic theme, but you could walk from one act to the other without needing to rely on a cutscene...
So...you would have to walk through all the transitions from start to finish, but you can always jump to a place you've already been using a waypoint for easy access. I think this is the same way it is in Titan Quest.
Doom 3, when you are locked in the control room and then that giant beast (Pinky demon) leaps down and bashes in the door...and jumps through the window. I had my brother play this scene in the dark with my surround sound system and he just about had a heart attack!!
Hardcore PK anyhtime is the worst idea ever. Then, the highest guy can just go off and eliminate every other hardcore character, and evertime somone makes a new one, lv9 and there dead again. Thats BS one or two guys cant run hardcore
It would not be like that...
1) Players can make private password protected games to solo or co-op without intrusion of strangers
2) A hardcore player who joins your game would not even know where you are in the game world, and it's not as simple as checking 4 acts because its not like that in D3...its one big world with towns spread all over
3) Hardcore players are going to be wary about attacking other hardcore players because they might lose their own guy...and even if the person they attack is low level, he might have friends who put him on a hit list, or own other chars.
In hardcore mode, there should be no "hostility mode" -- anyone can attack anyone at any time. While this may at first seem like the worst place to introduce such a feature, because death is permanent in hardcore, I think its actually the best place.
Why?
1) First of all, people who play hardcore are already willingly accepting a risk that their character can die, and they are OK with it. They specifically chose that option because they wanted the heightened sense of emotions, stress and joy, that come when you know that death is a real thing.
2) Cooperate play becomes a very interesting thing when its possible for your friend to stab you in the back. This heightened sense of excitement was lost with the shift from D1 to D2, and I think hardcore is the perfect way to bring it back without alienating the casual gamers who don't play hardcore anyway.
3) The general design decisions in D3 have been progressively shifting the game to make it more forgiving and easier. They took away the ability to mess up stat point allotment, they added respecs, and they gave it a more colorful exaggerated art style. While these decisions were obviously made in an attempt to broaden the appeal of the game, there are clearly a LOT of players who were very upset about these decisions...who really want a more hardcore game. They've already made soft-core more soft, so why not make hardcore more hardcore?
This is sad news. I didn't think they would need until 2011. Honestly, this is not a very complex game. It uses run of the mill graphics, doesn't require any cutting edge technology, doesn't require a complex plot line or very in-depth quests, all that it really needs is a bit of content creation (which can be done in parallel by a team of artists) and some balanced character skill trees. How is it possible for a company of Blizzard's size to spend so many years on this? It boggles my mind.
Just look at Torchlight, it seems to be about the same complexity as D3, only lacking in multiplayer support...and was created in under a year by a small team.
The Diablo story and lore is terrible. I didn't care to read the tombs in D1, and although I watched the cinematics in D2, the story never made much sense to me. I didn't care. I don't play Diablo for the story, I play it for the mindless distraction and powergaming.
This may seem like a trivial thing, but item coloration actually matters a lot to me.
In particular, hot green, purple and yellow look extremely cheap to me. It always bothered me a little to use set items in D2 just because they looked cheap.
I really hope they use the D2 shade of Gold (this isn't exactly it) for uniques, and don't choose a coloring scheme similar to WoW or HG:L. The blue that was used for magic items does not bother me because it's a muted magical looking color, not a "hot" shade.
Actually, I'd love it if they could have colors be like gold, silver, bronze and glowing and have all these colors be slightly animated..ie, you see the metallic font colors faintly shimmering, and the magic ones faintly glowing/pulsating.

If they just put on normal maps everything would look soooo much grittier and more realistic :/
