Does Blizzard make more money by selling hard-copy? Because if I download just digitally then you don't have to create a box, or a manual; you also don't have to transport the stuff.
I think it's more on Blizzard is making money of the rights to sell the latest version of the game itself... soft or hard copy is the same.
Though for security purposes, it is always better that you have a physical copy in hand which you can turn to whenever you need to reinstall the whole game. Say, your computer broke down or you're not playing at your house... stuff like that wherein it will be more convenient if you have the original disc of the game with you, thus saving you a lot of time from downloading.
Also, having the hard copy signifies that you have the authentic and genuine thing. It will also clear up the space the downloaded digital copy would eat up from your computer's hard drive.
.
The money saved by not manufacturing and transporting could be spent on more internet ads or tv ads, which are also digital.
Blizzard is located in Washington but if Europeans are purchasing Diablo also I guess that's why you're interested, eh? happy st. patricks day, by the way.
Installing D1 would be a challenge to the average computer user, and even if you installed it the graphics would be so bad that it would seem unplayable by today's standards. Heck I thought it was unplayable when D2 came out...
I bet many people would find it boring as well because games these days are so fast paced. Back then it everything was so slow.

Diablo 2 didn't have any, which was a disappointment in my opinion. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a link to a youtube video of all the audio books in Diablo1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUSaDzuWN14
I loved the tone of his voice, and the types of words chosen are so riveting. It really added to the creep of the game. Opinions, mortals?
