Summary of always-online comment: "We don't want to force people to be online, but we want to always encourage people to play with others online, so we'll continue to force them online."
Glad to have it confirmed again that Blizzard is as full of PR crap as EA and all the rest.
Wow. I've got to say, this game is actually adding so many things that fit my casual playstyle that I'm genuinely not minding the DRM anymore. Kind of like how I tolerate Steam because there's just so much added value to counteract the DRM.
As of these announcements (IF, of course, everything goes live as stated here), I can genuinely say the game will have 100% been worth the price I paid for it.
Now, if only they'd make me want to go back to WoW...nah.
Well, that pretty much confirms that they will require a new purchase for the console version, and won't just give it to people who already bought the PC version. Oh well. I would have liked to play it with a controller instead of a mouse, but I'll cut off my own nuts before I pay another $60 just to be reminded their "it's design, not DRM" is so much smoke in the face of console offline play.
As TB mentioned, if any version of Diablo has offline singleplayer, then it's final proof their "it's not DRM, it's a feature" nonsense is the bullcrap we always knew it to be.
Every major OS--windows, unix, and mac--all have locale systems that can be queried for the user's preference to format the string. Get off your high horse and admit they've been lazy. It has nothing to do with the players' ignorance.
Blizzard admits there is no true endgame the same day Force puts out a video saying he stopped playing because he got bored with the lack of endgame? I find that amusing.
