They may have not been widely popular or even successful, but they were appreciated by hardcore gamers. Simply saying hellgate and mythos were bad games is just ignorant. Just like how saying D3 is bad game is also ignorant. D3 is a fine stand alone game with great appeal. It just shouldn't be called Diablo 3.

And what was wrong with what he said? He is correct, unique monsters are the purple named ones. They used to drop two magic items every time they were killed, 1.0.3 changed that so they no longer did. Elites/Champs still dropped at least 2 magic items when killed, maybe more, and with 5 NV stacks, at least 1 rare, maybe more.

if you took a week off that means you played hardcore for 1 day as 1.0.3 was only released last week (19th for US, 20th for EU) so 1 day is hardly time to "get used" to any type of drop rate

After 1.0.3a, not guaranteed to drop 2 blues. I highly doubt the drop rates on normal hc is different from normal sc. Did I really have to spell this out for you? And FFS the patch affects drops rates of INFERNO AND HELL ONLY.

When I started playing again I noticed a significant decrease in magical (blue) item drops from elite packs. In fact I even got an champ pack where NO blues dropped. They were all white items. Also I have been noticing several times where only 1 blue item would drop instead of 2 blue items.
So again, was there a quality drop rate nerf thanks.

Of course he'll say that. He's trying to sell D3. Just because d2 and d1 had the same kind of cheese and D3 just has more of it, doesn't make it just as bad. It definitely makes it worse. D2 had a lot less dialogue, but it backed the story up and the mood with great music. Act 1 and act 5 of D2 was EPIC in terms of mood, storytelling, and music.
On top of that, the extra dialogue is freaking terrible. Such as when Diablo says to kill his shadow warrior in order to defeat him. Or when Azmodan repeatedly tells you his battle plans on destroying Earth....giving you the where/when/how.
I would also like to point out that the players themselves have evolved...probably in a negative fashion.
Grinding for gear in D2 was awesome because you can makes games and kill bosses for good loot every couple of minutes. This feeling was unprecedented and was pure heaven. People could grind the same mobs for hours, weeks, even months non-stop. I want to say that this feeling and addiction probably occurred dued to the fact that many people felt it was easier compared to RO and Ultima. With WoW, the game has been easier and easier and easier. Loot is easier to get, bosses, questing, leveling, rep grinding, everything became easier and faster. Yet players can still go for more convenience and more purple loot. My point is, there will be a smaller population that would still grind those sleepless nights for months compared to that of D2. Not to mention the majority of the kids who played D2 have jobs now which means they have less time and effectively less patience to sit thru the grinds. :]

So yes I would still use my phrasing "small minority," esp. considering casuals are the majority of any game. I really don't see casuals getting very far in Inferno. And actually developers and publishers need sponsorship to grow their company. That or they have to consistently exceed the success of their game launches. Of course this is not something you can rely on every quarter as a company which is why cash on the side is pretty much needed. Look at the WoW merchandise line, it's huge, but it's not doing well. So how do you make the merchandise do well? Hype.

As for the majority being casuals and unable to do inferno, what makes you think they will be able to overcome the potentially bigger challenge being PvP with unpredictable opponents and possible major imbalance? I'm not claiming casual players can withstand the wrath of good pvpers at all. To be honest a game does need some casual pvpers, but not all of them. What a pvp system needs is balance and fairness. Hard to achieve? You damn right it is. But the beauty of it is the games never have to be balanced. Blizz just needs to TRY to balance it and it'll be enough to stop pvpers from quitting. I'm going a little off track here. I'm going to use WoW pvp in my point. Vanilla WoW, PvP was to a certain degree imbalanced but balancing patches were constantly being released. Same with BC, where PvP was so hyped that many players know the top pvpers and their arena teams by name. LOTS of merchandise were launched at the end of BC as well as the sharp spike in Blizzcon goers. WoW even had it's own trading card game at this point. Was the game ever really balanced? No, but Blizz was trying. Eventually the imbalanced were getting out of hand and it just looked like Blizz was never on the right path to fix the more obvious issues such as the burst damage in WOTLK. Burst damage isn't as big an issue as it was in WOTLK currently but there hasn't been a balance patch since over 9 months ago. And each year the crowd size at the 3s arena tournament at Blizzcon gets sadder. I'm not saying WoW as a game is dead, but they have lost a lot of subscribers in the past year. The numbers are currently holding up due to the annual D3 pass and the closeness of MOP. But where would the game be if it did not entice our competitive nature in both the pve and the pvp realm?

So tell me....how many "Players vs Monsters" threads and posts are there..? How many PvP post now? Also take note of what you just said "~10 years" after release...10 YEARS! It is still running to this day. The majority of the PvP players like me and Koda and well everyone else that was good are gone, and yet they still managed to get MULTIPLE ladders up and running and filled with 50 people. Why would you make a ladder with more then 50 people also? I have ran those ladders and I capped them out at 10, anything more was a huge time consumption as they can rapidly change.
Just do yourself a favor, stick to talking about Blizzards views, something you seem to know. Stay out of talking about PvP in D2 and stop trying to tell us what the majority did while you were getting help killing Baal.
Wow, resorting to insults yet again...way to prove your point. I've played D2 PvP. Specifically I PvP'd in Diablo 2 during its prime. Judging anything related to D2 by how its done now is absolutely stupid. Diablo 2 is way past its prime and many of the players (both PvM and PvP) have left for other games. During D2's prime is what matters as its more representative of the MAJORITY and the MAJORITY of PvP was done exactly how I stated.
In all honestly I think you've played D2 so long that you've become blinded to the fact that the world moved on. There are better games out now, with better ways of doing things. Hostility is a bad system as the only people it really benefits is griefers. Sure there are some legit uses but the majority of the time it will just be used for griefing (and that's even what you want it for). You aren't a majority at all.
Its evident by this forum and the fact that there aren't even enough PvP players posting in a PvP forum on the most popular Diablo 3 fansite to back you up. The reality is, you're wrong. The majority of the Diablo 3 community likes the new system and is glad that hostility is dead. They want dueling moved to Arenas so that they don't have to worry about people like yourself acting like a child and spamming them with duel requests. They want to enjoy the content be it PvM or PvP and Blizzard is giving them what they want.

PVPer are f*cking hardcore. With that said I argue a different point in that Blizz really needs PvP to sustain their games. Across all their franchises, pvp has boosted and in many cases sustained the game title. Even with the Diablo franchise, pvp kept the wheels turning. I played both ladder and serious pvp in D2. And guess what? Ladder IS PvP. It's all about the epeen mentality. You didn't win any items for being the top of the ladder, you got pvp spirit, pvp pride. That is what it's all about. To rid the game of ladder/pvp (i'm not saying Blizz is actually going to), you basically turned this game into Castle Crashers. Coop linear game with harder difficulties after you beat the game.
