i can't really see a wizened spell caster walking about hitting armored creatures with a thin wooden wand without instant breakage. From a realistic perspective It's ranged attack wand or no wand. Of course, this game isn't famous for its realism.
Another idea is a summon (a bat or a giant insect) that have a skill that lifts you, allowing you to fly over monsters and obstacles. I think it's also nice because it fits the WD's summoner archtype. Still, the "Spirirtwalk" makes more sense.
simply...epic. If not this, than zombie/bone bridge. Or strong zombie halfway above ground that can launch you across gaps and into monsters. Or a flaming skull you can 'surf' on. Or a purple and green smoke bomb on either side of a gap, and the player uses his imagination to figure how he gets from point a to point b. Honestly anything is fine. So long as i get MAH BLOWDART PIPE!
That is THE only thing that could possibly make this game cooler. I think about from the time I wake 'till the time I sleep and dream of it. I would fight a friggin' balrog for it. So, in short...

Also, what, in your opinion, is NOT 'mmo like'? Typing commands in order to contact your friends? I don't know what rings your bells but if you are 'worried' for the loss of that feature in today's age of gaming then perhaps you should silently go back to D2 and forget D3 was ever announced.
just wanna point something out... I have +300 hours logged on GW. 21 on hellgate. City of heroes? I don't even want to do the math to figure out how much I've played. I'm not afraid of mmos. I just think that Diablo is legendary as a hack-n-slash. I really doubt it will be half as fun as an mmo. I've agreed with you on almost everything you've ever posted, dimebog, but understand where I'm coming from before you tell me it's the wrong direction.
that said, i don't think a 'social' button is mmo-like. I think emotes are. I'd love emotes. But I've slowly realized that it would cheapen the experience. The title, by the way, is a grabber. I've always thought it was funny as hell that people would flip out and call d3 that. It stood to reason that the thread would get faster replies with something like that in the title than with "the game that might be kinda almost mmo-like'
that is absolutely awesome... I just wish there was a WD one...:(...oh, well. I'm making all my friends use this one anyway (at least, all the ones that play d2) once again, absolutely awesome.
edit: o my g...there IS a witchdoctor one! I LOVE YOU!
i agree with everything Psykosis said. There are some features that ruined the game (I'm in no place to whine about them because I loved d2 when I played it) but i think the author picked things that bothers farmers (omgrandomdropswaaaah), and I've always thought farming itself ruined the game. True, there was an immersion problem when random monsters spawned, but it could be overlooked as long as it kept things interesting
To septar:
i did. You assumed and implied. Even if you didn't target me specifically noone's a stupid fuck just because they think differently than you on a subject you both know little about.
To Andro:
That's a load off of my mind.
Did I say that? When did I exagerate? I'm asking a question, "should i be worried that's it's mmo like?" and you're pretending I said it's an mmo. This isn't a flame-fest. Cool your jets, man.
you have six round buttons that are, from left to right: Character Info, Inventory, Skills, Quests, Social (this was not able to be selected in the demo) and Settings. They're pretty self-explanatory and function like their counterparts in World of Warcraft.
This was a rundown from someone that played the demo. I never played WoW (don't like keeping up with payments) so if anyone has, what exactly does that 'Social' button encompass? Are we talking friend's lists, teamspeak options, emotes, or what?
Oh! What if when the wall smashes down in this imaginary hall the whole thing loses structure and chunks of the ceiling fall! Pick fight or flight, either way you're dodging rubble.
It's an Energy Twister, not wind type at all. It just looks like...
a tornado? either way it all but ensures the druid tornado as we know it is gone and I get to laugh at my druid friends in their time of misery HAHAHAHA! THE TEARS OF THE INNOCENT SUSTAIN ME!!!

Didn't Jay Wilson say it?
this is getting kindof immature, don't ya think?
