In regards to Auriel, we don't really know the circumstances of her capture, only that she was. We don't know how many scores of demons attacked her. We do know from the Wrath video though that she does have some capable combat ability.
Also, the scales were tipped heavily in Diablo's favor. Remember, at this point he was the Prime Evil with all seven aspects in his body and basically functioning as a resurrection of Tathamet. Ordinarily I don't think he ought to have been able to even set foot in Heaven.
I would have removed it completely. The atmosphere as you approach bosses like Azmodan and Diablo is being built up beautifully...the music is getting more dramatic, there's darkness and flashing lightning, and suddenly here's Diablo talking to me out of the ether (not to mention out of his demonic nether regions). Shatters that scary, dramatic atmosphere like a fart in church.
Despite that and Zolton Kulle MUHAHAHAHAAAAA'ing his way across Act Two, I'm not gonna get all harsh on Metzen and his team. They just shouldn't use the "Austin Powers" movies as a reference point when doing any future game writing.
I find that to be very well thought-out and written; a refreshing change from the "OMFG D3 SUX" wailing and gnashing of teeth I'm seeing elsewhere. Well done.
And speaking of that worthy, I wonder if he's going to make a cameo in D3 along with our old friends Gharbad and the Butcher. Haven't heard anything about it, have you?
So does anybody know or guess how long it takes the installer to do its thing? I've got work today, and want to spend a few hours in the Guild Wars 2 stress test when I get home.
I thought so, but for some reason I clicked "install" just now and it tried to install the beta client...I stopped it. 'tis a holdover from my friend who built this machine, I see that now.
It is stated somewhere that it is only a projection of him. Also, Deckard cain refers to him as Archangel Hadriel, but thats about all i could find with a google search
eh?
My sentiments exactly.
I just thought he was supposed to serve the same purpose as...um, whatshername at the edge of the Blood Moor, to warn the player that he or she is heading into dangerous waters.
Because, you know, the lakes of molten lava with screaming skeletons lunging out of them and the menacing architecture of the Chaos Sanctuary might not be much of an indicator.
For my part, I'd like to pick up the trail of the Rogue Sisterhood. They were so pivotal in the first two games, and when you go back to visit Akara in D2 she cheerfully informs you that they're "still cleaning the Monastery" (just like it was a party that got out of hand or something). What happened to them after that?
Well, granted, he's not GLaDOS. He's not going to sing you a quirky little song after you send his big red ass back to Hell...again.
However, along with his brothers, he represents all that is dark in the universe. I think The Book of Cain even mentions the way they feed upon one another...Terror begets Hatred, Hatred begets Destruction...which begets Terror once more. And when you consider that these three things are best achieved with the help of human hands...well, suddenly Diablo lives up to his title, at least in my eyes.
You're correct but not at the same time, the serpent i posted is what Cain believes to be the necromancer Rathma, there is another serpent in the book here.
I stand corrected, I'd read that bit but had forgotten. Yeah, that little notation by Cain seems to indicate he himself is bewildered by the ancient legends.
Is there anything we can do to help besides report them?

Yeah, but where did it go?
And while I'm on the subject, do they tell us what happens to Adria after Leah's, um, enhancement?
Minds that need examining want to know!
*boots the beta*
Oh my. Hope he doesn't try to trade us off to Diablo in exchange for something...
