All those narrated books in D1 somehow managed to be one of my favorite features. The voice for it was just perfect. And it alluded to something so grand. Everything in Tristram seems somewhat like an isolated incident. But when you hear snippets of the Sin War and the Great Conflict, you wonder if you're playing a critical part in something much larger at stake.
They seem dimwitted at times, true. But that also is what can make them seem so dangerous at times. When people's reasoning is just so fallacious, and they're ready to act on their inductive conclusions, they can be pretty scary. And here you have this little demon, and his thinking seems totally inverted, you wonder about what else is going on in his mind. Is he just stupid? Or is the rationale in Hell so different that his plan would otherwise make perfect sense?
And it's these moments in D1 that were always lacking in D2.
The Ogden's Sign quest offered some interesting insights into the mind of the demon. We kind of saw how stupid they could be, but it was still an interesting notion that they thought they could use it to invoke the power of the sun with the sign.
The quest is actually very essential to the main storyline, though you're not fully aware of it yet. If you had read the manual though, you might have wondered why you encountered him so early in the game. He kind of seems like he would be a major boss fight more toward the end.
I know everyone says The Butcher. But I still stand by the King Leoric quest being more frightening. It's scary cause when you hear his voice, you don't know if it's in your head or if he's just shouting very loudly.
Yeah, the Skeleton King quest actually affected me more than The Butcher. Of course, they manage to be rather different from one another. The Butcher is just this sheer sadistic creature who sustains himself on human suffering. And King Leoric's story is just so sad and tragic you don't really feel like gloating when killing him. You're just happy for him he's vanquished. He had such a nice ending that I was actually disappointed when I saw him in the Wizard trailer. Kind of as if they had slaughtered his character a bit.
Come on man Join the crew that dosent use cheats on D1. Channel Diablo LE. If d2 became like d1 would you use hacks? I mean come on play legitly its WAAAY more fun.
I don't think you guys get me. I HAVE played it legitimately. Hundreds of times. And now that I have, I may wish to cheat should I play it again.
Im sure plenty of people have reported "those bugs" but blizzard simply doesn't care anymore. Plus i doubt he plays d1 like he plays d2 im sure he plays to just mess around.
Refreshing common sense.
Yes, I've played D1 so many times now that if I'm not exploiting the game's bugs, I'm at most using Boba Fett's character trainer.
With D2 though I never cheat. I play on closed Bnet on ladder games.
And blizzu, as far as I know, that duping bug still exists. So just how important do you think it was for them to fix that?
I am a cheater yes. However, duping is hardly cheating. It's just exploiting a bug in the game. It is your duty as a gamer to always exploit bugs in games.
I had a duping disability. Gold was especially hard for me. So I would just dupe Griswold's Edge over and over and sell it for its fixed value at 10,500.
