Yup, definitely use fire skills for now since you have a few pieces with fire dmg. You could do something like magic missles (fire) force weapon, familiar (fire), teleport, resists/crit armor and meteor.
Gear wise, I'd try and get a socket on your weapon so maybe reroll the reduce resource cost. Go for 3 sockets in your chest and add crit to your gloves.
In the end, you're just asking for another way of producing the exact same items we already have.
While I'm not as negative about itemization, this is essentially my thought on runewords if they were to be implemented. What would runewords add that just adding new legendaries wouldn't? In D2, they essentially replaced rares and uniques to be come the new endgame gear. I'd rather D3 continue to add new and build changing legendaries.
There are plenty of ways to focus in on specific items for D3. As has already been mentioned, certain legendaries come from specific bounty caches, and certain mobs drop specific crafting materials. In addition, the gambling system is in place to help allow you to 'farm' a specific item or gear slot. This is way more user friendly than D2 ever was. You may not be able to go to a specific area for every single item, but that would take away from the RNG nature of the game. This isn't an MMO like WoW with specific bosses dropping specific gear/sets.
They do crit. The way they are displayed can be confusing. I remember devs saying the dots tick every second but they add up the total and then display the dmg in 5 second intervals. I'm pretty sure within that each tick can crit. So there may not be a visual display of the dmg critting but the total number should include the ticks that crit. Unless things have changed, this was how I understood they functioned.
I think adding more things to spend shards on could be a good idea. I like the idea of being able to buy a cache; it's just more satisfying to open than gambling something. I also liked the suggestion to add legendary crafting materials to Kadala that could be bought for shards. They could even keep it random and have the option to gamble a random crafting material with the opportunity to get a legendary one. I think it'd be cool if you could gamble gems with a chance to get one of the higher quality ones.
Yea, the new portraits definitely don't seem like typical work for Blizzard. The 1-100 ones are much more interesting and these newer ones lack creativity and originality. I hope they fix them or update them :/
Rifts are definitely my favorite way to farm at the moment. The super shrines are amazing, and the locations and random mobs are fun (some can be frustrating though). I noticed a little increase in my luck with legendaries last night, and I'm planning on doing more rifts this weekend.
