I'm not surprised by the shutdown since updates on the franchise became sporadic and Diablo 3 stale.... But that doesn't make me feel less sad than i am right now.
I knew this site since Diablo 3 was first announced and damn, i browsed it daily to look for news. Then Diablo 3 1.0 was released and we know how the game was back then: not too good, but we hanged on, discussed how to make the game better and still farming our asses off to trade on the AH, grind Paragon levels for Magic Find (remember that?) or just punish ourselves with some Solo Self Found Hardcore mode (i did it).
Then RoS was released and that was the peak moment for Diablo 3 and Diablo Fans: everyone, myself included, posted their own build, be it janky or not but still viable for Torment 4 to 6; we had Dfans clans in both US and EU; we made parties to farm rifts and we chatted all the time.... Too bad it didn't last as long as i hoped. Greater Rifts arrived and they pidgeonholed us into meta builds and we hoped Season resets would help giving us a breath of fresh air once in a while, but they didn't last either. Obviously after all the scrapped features from expansion n° 2 were implemented in RoS, updates became slow.... to sporadic to basically nill and that made many of the players i met on the site and clan stop playing, myself included.... It's a shame, but Diablo 3 couldn't manage to live on the legacy of Diablo 2....
Well, i'll probably still click on the bookmarked main page of this site after the shutdown for nostalgia, hopefully the archive will stay here.
If you are using the 64bit client, try leaving all community chats. I had some strange fps drops too on a 970 (i mean, more weird than usual but D3 always did that) and by leaving those chats it fixed for me.
Everything I'd like to see CAN be implemented within D3. However, I'm not sure blizzard is willing to risk drastically changing D3, so a D4 announcement would be exciting because it means they would essentially have a clean slate to work with.
Maybe blizz could make a stand-alone expansion then make some drastical changes to d3 to that.
Going stand alone is the best way to make a new, hypothetic, expansion for D3. This way they can keep RoS like this and start anew without making a new game; classes, spells, graphic can be reused but with a different itemization, game system and not stacking insane damage multiplier for a new level cap.
New players can buy D3X2 without buying Vanilla and Ros, which is a nice saving while, hopefully, Diablo 3 will go into a more RPG direction like the predecessor and other games of the genre out there right now.
Well, i can say the item hunt and character building, both aspects that were butchered patch after patch in RoS.
In Diablo 2 and PoE i can enjoy the leveling process because each time i know the build i envisioned (read: copied) is shaping up and at key level i get the talent that gives my character a nice boost.
Then i can always find a good item in the lower levels to keep me company instead of tossing away 2-3 levels after, which requires 10 minutes if you are slow, because the damage stats increase so much.
That's why i was happy for seasons but D3, in this state, doesn't bring the good feeling of journey while starting a new character because everything is the same and it doesn't matter until you reach max level, while i never reached the cap in D2 or PoE but i enjoyed farming while leveling up.
Basically, i never had an endgame in Diablo 2 and i never felt the need for one.
So, what i want from Diablo? The rpg and character building that was lost when it was decided that the game had to be build around max level and items dictating how your character has to be played, which lead to the loot hunt to being almost removed completly because base spells are terrible without augumentations and the insane difficulty stack lead to give everyone a fast way to experience the "endgame", which became a paragon grind and gem leveling.
Still undecided. I love DH but i dislike UE even if it's the free set this season and it's the best for farming and do GR with minimal effort; what happened to Natalya RoV?
Crusader.... i like the class but it's sets are meh at best. I have no intention to give me carpal tunner with Blessed Hammer stutter step while spamming for abilities or be a Punish bot or wait for Bombardment cd if i ever get full ancient Invoker with LoN.
Barbarian.... i loved the Leap Quake build but really disliked the IK-Raekor hybrid because it was too spammy.
AAAND i don't really play the other classes that much, i just don't understand their spells and mechanics.
So yeah, i think it will be the worst season for me.
I'm in a mindset i wouldn't play season if extra tabs weren't a reward. I like the combat and i like farming for items... if they weren't dropping from the sky. I guess Diablo 3 GR endgame isn't what i look for in the long run in an ARPG but looking for rare items....
I never had too much problems with my storage because i'm only attached to Demon Hunter and i keep the various sets updated while other classes only have one set of (bad) gear and i forget.
I have good memories of Torchlight's statsh system with one chest for your current character while another is shared so i think for D3 we could use 1 or 2 tabs per character with a 3-4 tabs for shared gear and materials?
Is this occuring on MMO-Champion and Reign of Gaming too? They are both Curse's site and i don't see this flood of spam there. Are mods more active there (i think the userbase is bigger and requires more attention)? Or is this site easily exploitable?
It's been a regular occurence on Dfans to have multiple spam thread, but never this bad. I understand this is a new type of attack and hopefully it will be fixed soon, but i saw a quality decline here in the last few months (cough, quote bug), and it's a shame since it's the best Diablo forum with really good posters and discussions....
I love how on the official forums everyone is screaming that DH is ruined and Mara6 is nerfed into oblivion while here the userbase is saying the opposite.... I wonder where the thoughtful playerbase lies
I was wondering the same. I'm not playing PTR (not even D3) and i wonder if EA with Kridershot counts as a Hatred Generator or not. That would be sick <.<

Thanks guys for the great time.

Otherwise launch the 32bit client.

Well, i like only 3 classes: demon hunter, barbarian and crusader and it's time for the flail and shield warrior to be played this season.

Always one more than what we have! /s

A not opened chest is a lost chance for a Forgotten Soul!
