Yes, agreed with both of the two most recent posts.
From an abilities perspective, logically, you're going to have DW that does less damage per hit but generates resources faster so you can hit more frequently. The opposite is true of 2H.
I guess we'll have to see how it balances out when we get access to top tier items and do real calculations over the span of a 30 second boss fight. That's where rotations come into play and we'll be able to start calculating damage per spirit/fury point, etc. I think it's too early to be discussing rotations without access to all the runes.
For the end practical dps for Fists, you are doing 3.11s at 140% WD, and 1 instance of 200% for every 3.727s. Add the two damage values and divide by the time to get the overall dps:
Fists: 100 DPS / 1.4 APS = 71.4 Avg Dmg
Daibo: 135.9 DPS / 1.1 APS = 123.5 Avg Dmg
Fists: (3.11 * 115 * 1.4) + (71.4 * 2) = 172.5 DPS
Daibo: (4.55 * 135.9 * 1.4) + (123.5 * 2) = 203.9 DPS
So as a result, Daibo is doing 18.2% more dps, which is exactly what you expect.
Why don't you use 1.61 APS for the fists and 1.1 for the daibo in your calc? You have defined it at the top, but appear to be using a different APS in the calc, I don't understand that.
It should bring the two weapons very close together and, very likely, actually show that fists are superior.
Gentleman, I can provide both perspectives being an Aussie who's recently moved to the US.
In the US I am getting about 120-140ms on a good day, and probably 200ms on a bad day. I put this solely down to the Beta, they'll be running a very small amount of servers.
In Aus, certainly 300+ms right now is to be expected in the Beta. As for SC2 pings, those servers are in Singapore. Diablo does not have a SEA/ANZ region.
Once Live hits, I totally expect all pings we're currently experiencing to be cut in half.
I genuinely think they will need to buff 1h'ers damage.
I just finished a DH play through and the 2h'ers were a clear winner. The speed isn't that much difference for the amount of damage change a 2h gives you.
Other classes are different, but for DH it was massive for me.
.... you can find a "Resplendent Chest". The chest is a trap. When you try to open it, the chest drops down into the floor and 4 skeletal summoning posts rise from each corner of the room. The doors lock on the room and the summoning posts will endlessly summon skeletons so long as you don't destroy them. Once you destroy the summoning posts and clear the room of the remaining skeletons, the Resplendent Chest rises up from the floor again and will drop 3-4 magic items, usually with a Yellow item in there too.
Thus, the faster hitting weapon that kills the same enemy is more effective. Further, damage procs on weapons (such as fire or arcane) occur more often on faster weapons, and the damage on those doesn't scale, so faster weapons get a boost there as well.
I just want to clarify one point here, damage procs don't occur faster on 1h weapons vs 2h weapons.
Most procs have a hidden mechanic called "PPM" or procs per minute, which is a rough calculation that takes into account the speed of the weapon. It's the same mechanic for many items in WoW.
So if you've got the same "proc" on a 1h and a 2h, they should hit roughly the same. The 1h will have a lower chance of proccing but hits faster, the 2h will have a higher chance of proccing but hits slower - so in summary, every 60 seconds they should be comparable from a proc perspective.

These headphones are SO open, it feels like you're not wearing anything. Sound passes right through.

This is patch day and due to a Beta, they are distributing directly off their servers.
At release, it will be like WoW where it's peer to peer and will reduce 95% of the load.
I feel socially disconnected in Diablo 3.
I know it's not an MMO, but playing socially is a HUGE part of a game's longevity in 2012.
It's not hard if you stack your primary stat and AS%.
I will have a try tonight to purely get my DPS up.....
I find it weird sitting in a lobby with a crummy little chat window and that's all the social I get.

Is it possible the loot increases the more kills you make?

Enjoy trying to find it!
Diablo is an action-rpg, so yeah it mostly is about damage!
There are no "healers" or "tanks" in this game really.
If you're doing more damage, you don't need to use your more defensive, movement, secondary abilities. There is a direct correlation here.
But if you do more damage, you won't be needing as many resources.
Just food for thought....
