Paladins can summon hammers out of nowhere... And they got the power to do that from some ancient magic hammer or some shit, its on arreat summit. It does not seem to far a stretch to have a hammer summoning barb.
Last time I looked, the Paladin was a natural party leader, a holy man (basically a Cleric, using divine powers (magic)). The Barbarian is a close-combat specialist, the best fighter humanity has to offer. Of course, the male barbarian does look a bit shamanesque, but imagine the frail(er) barbarianette throwing around ethereal 1ton hammers. It boggles the mind:confused:
I'm not sure how linking to a poll that was closed is fact for anything heh
It was made on the peak of the discussion. And it's the official one. There's an open one as well if you want a link to that:D
Sorry, but I'm just tired of people misinforming others. There is no proof that those who want the style to stay the same are the majority, vocal or otherwise.
You need to stop. You're not doing yourself any favors with these posts. You and the few other people like seem to think you're the core people who want the style changed just because you make the most noise.
Guess what? We're all fans, like it or not. Give it a rest.
I'm glad you're dousing the flames, but get your facts straight:P
With that said, PA has a huge hard on for WoW. God forbid someone not like the game they like.
Yeah exactly. If they'd have done anything else than a childish and immature response to the "graphics whiners", they'd had to hang themselves. And if they didn't, their fans would have hanged them:P
WTF no one cared about the flashy attacks before... now all of a sudden after Blizz said "we don't care we aren't changing art" this is the next "bandwagon" everyones jumped on...
Umm. Yes they did. Obviously you haven't been paying much attention. There were heated arguments about flashiness the same time with the art direction arguments:confused:
I don't mind the "flashyness" of the Barbarian at all, but I have to say that the Hammer of the Ancients spell looks ridiculous.
Another kid who thinks his opinion is the only one. So tiring
Indeed. You must be tired with the whole world then, because that's what people naturally do. That's what you do, that's what I do, that's what he does, that's what Jay Wilson does, that's what George Bush, Shaka Zulu or the average joe does.
At least that is the impression the world has left me with.
really I, myself, Would not give a damn if i had to wait 2 more years instead of 1 if their changing it, it HAD to be done.
Well, since they made us wait for 7 years, I'd say I can live through another year of delay. Because I don't really give a shit when it's released, I just want it released. Some time.
The words ..fans may as well settle in for a healthy wait.. and ..the game is nowhere near finished.. were scary.
Oh well. I'm positive now this won't be coming until 2010 or late 2009.
Healthy wait? 7 years isn't long enough then, is it?
Awesome! Finally we have proof that Blizzard never even read through anything concerning the art style and suggestions for it thereof:thumbsup:
Mr. Wilson has no idea what he's talking about.
People remember the Act I dungeons... but they kind of conveniently forget the green fields of Act I, and all of Act II... and it's palaces, its bright deserts.
I think he's forgetting conveniently how those places were colored:D
Diablo II, said Wilson, was actually "very saturated, very bright."
Is this guy for real?
"There's a philosophy that goes across all of our games, and that philosophy stays true from game to game... so it probably draws some comparisons," Wilson said. "One philosophy is that our artists feel like if they're just using photorealism, not creating a unique look for the game, not stylizing so that it's uniquely Blizzard, then they're not doing their jobs."
Haven't seen any of that philosophy before Warcraft 3. Ever. None of that for Diablo 1,2, Starcraft, Warcraft 1,2. Nor the Lost Vikings.
There are some cases, though, where the sharing of art philosophy doesn't always work — WoW game director Jeffrey Kaplan said that the team takes care not to make the gravestones in WoW's pivotal cemeteries too Gothic-looking — those tombstones belong in Diablo.
Well I'm glad we didn't see the tombstones copy pasted from WoW then:D
(Sarcasm intended)
The preliminary art we've seen so far, Wilson said, is from early on in the game. "We want to generate the feeling of everything getting worse... it's part of our narrative. It makes the more gloomy part of the game a place where the stakes get higher."
YES! Finally! Some light at the end of the tunnel! This made me really happy. The only good part of the interview, really, because it's the only part where they're not firing a shotgun at their own feet. I'm glad the environment will get worse. And they've confirmed the plot as well, basically. Hell IS breaking loose.
"If you start out at the apocalypse, and then move to more apocalypse, it's not going to have much of an impression on players."
Would have been nice if they'd say that earlier, to stop the "whining". But why didn't they? Well, I could come up with many theories. Ah well, their choice. It was good publicity, actually.
I dunno about this new Diablo. Sure he looks badass but he doesn't look like the Diablo I came to love. And slay. Several times. Azmodan or Belial would fit better, but hey if they want to change everything in the transition from D2-D3 then I say, go ahead. At least don't disappoint me.
And if don't flame. You just make yourself look like an idiot. At the very least you could have posted in an existing thread, but NOOOO. Now this topic is gonna get locked and/or spammed/flamed. Good job. (Not that I don't agree with you in some parts)

And that's it
He's the (or one of the) grandfather(s) of Diablo, and everything he said is so, so true.

Agreed.

We've had polls. All of them showed that the majority wants at least some kind of change. That wasn't enough, I guess.
Couldn't agree more. Whining about whiners? Sounds like flamebait to me. I vote "close".
