Really, them using their old system just updated and such with better graphics and more functionality would be a far step above what they did with Starcraft II. Watching a video someone posted on the warcraft III battle.net and discussing the features made me realized that so much has changed I wish they would take a step back.
Sure, make great games, but there is more to it then that. You could share and stream live replays on wcIII/sc, clan support, etc, all things people want with scII, but don't have. I hope they have a better system with their Diablo III battle.net. Would be a shame to ignore such a good service they had back in the day.
I would probably buy beta access assuming it wasn't some outlandish price like 30+ dollars. I know it's not the finished game, but the chance to work on and possibly influence a games development, even just to see its development, is pretty enjoyable.
I beta tested scII and cataclysm. Watching them get to be from one thing to the full game was rewarding, to say nothing of the insider knowledge of the game before its release.
Hardcore was fun while you played it...It's the rage factor that got me. Maybe partially because i wasn't all that great, but, you get far enough and its almost just grind grind grind until you know you will have no problem with an upcoming boss. I did that with diablo...unfortunately the farthest I got with hardcore was baal on normal. That was solo though.
I dunno, I like the fact that they update their games even after they release them. I would think its one of the few guys left that worked in DII...I know some of them left afterwards anyway.
I do find it funny that they waited what...12 years? to release the ability to respec. While it is only 3 times (once per difficulty) its still infinitely better then how they had it before.
I always found the paladin to be a great first character...Might be a biased opinion though.
Zeal is a great ability. get some sort of mana steal weapon or ring and you can basically do it all day (similar to the barbarians dual wield thing...i forget the name)
You can get various resistances somewhat early. Just in case you get those pesky beetles in act II. i HATE those beetles.
and should you ever go multiplayer (i play single player, but I play it over battle.net in case I have friends in the future that want to have a go at it) It's a good support class and well rounded as melee.
In all my diablo games my first characters were melee. Warrior in Diablo 1, then onto the barbarian for Diablo II. Sure, there was a paladin, but i felt the demeanor of the barbarian to be a preferance of mine. Now after all that happened in LoD, I definitely want to play another barbarian. Glad they returned for Diabo III
