Assuming he did indeed mean Diablo will be the last fight, I'm honestly glad we get him out of the way in the original release. With Diablo presumably out of the way, there are numerous possibilities for who will show up as bosses in future expansions. I have no doubt the fight with Diablo will be amazing, and I'm so freakin' excited to see how he looks in game :d3d:. The Siege Breaker blew my mind.. and he's not even an Act boss..
Even though I mentioned that we may not fight Diablo in the original release, I agree completely with you Winged. I hope we fight him in the original release, because it allows them to open up the expansions more(or so I think), and also cannot wait to finally see what they have planned for us against him.
We do have a full running Alpha right now. Everyone in the office can play through to Diablo.
Seeing as he says we can play through to Diablo and not necessarily that we get to fight Diablo, any chance that while we will see Diablo in the game,we do not actually fight him until a possible expansion. It may be a stretch but I am just thinking along the lines of D2 where we see Baal in a bunch of cinematics, and his presence definitely plays a large role in the story line, but we don't fight him until the LOD expansion.

I think this will likely turn out to not be entirely true.
But, the demon hunter resource system hasn’t changed and I expect anyone that will have a hands on with the game will be able to write about it in-detail.
So, what does this mean? Does this mean we don't expect the beta announcement on August 1? Or does it mean that we DO, and the final system reveal will happen before that point? Or something else?

Seriously, that's like as unclear as he could make it. I imagine he doesn't want to say what he means straight out, but perhaps there's something we can glean from this.

This could mean anything from the beta will be out on August 1st(which is what I think we are all hoping for) to there is still more to announce concerning system reveals before they announce the beta.
Orbs are out, potions are in, Not spammable but there, and I'm sure pit of fire doesn't cost that much by the time you actually get it, plus with traits and runes you can get it to cost as much as a tier 1 skill probably.
Using those same traits/runes to lower the cost of a higher tier skill you could also reduce the cost of a tier 1 skill. This would make that tier 1 skill even more viable at higher levels, through increased spammability. So your choice would be something like reducing a tier 4 skill to tier 1 in terms of cost, or reducing tier 1 to cost basically nothing so you can constantly spam it.
