I watched that video way too many times in four years. I expected that video when I logged onto D3 for the first time. That video was more or less what D3 was for me...for the first 10 levels. Then everything went downhill quite fast.
I'm still waiting for D3. Mayhaps now, with JW gone, the expansion(s) will have a chance in the hells of being not terrible.
Also, going off what the guy above me said (which I love), Diablo went from
"Not even death can save you from me!" The one terrifying and awesome line Diablo has, to
"So, you approach the oculus with the intent to destroy it...you will NOT succeed!"
me too, I lost a hardcore char when I started right next to a mob and I had to run in an uncleared area... lesson learned, and the open town portal is something I'll avoid as well...
Hooray for Bender!
OT: Underwhelming patch. I might reinstall D3 for it but I know that it'll just be disappointing
Like many posts like the OP's long one, I find myself agreeing with the general message that was presented. Kudos to the OP for putting the large amount of time that must have gone into it. Probably equivalent to grinding Paragon 10 to Paragon 11.
It's all those reasons that, after several months of trying to like and WANTING to like Diablo 3, I finally gave up around September, uninstalled (out of frustration, really), and haven't played since. I hang around these forums and the official Blizz forums in hopes that one day things will look up but I'm now convinced that IF any improvement is on the way, it won't be until an expansion. And in that case, I firmly believe that I will be "voting with my wallet," as it were, and not buying another poor excuse for a Diablo franchise game.
Diablo 3 has huge potential, imo, I can see it and feel it and play some if it as I play (or as I played, I don't anymore, because I think it's kinda bad). But its potential is not realized. It's a rock on top of a hill.
What an excellent way to get the community involved. Kudos, diablofans. I'm not all that much into PvP myself but it would be a neat thing to try if a battleground-type thing was implemented in D3. Some kind of big 10 v 10 thing where you have a bunch of players going at it.
Though it would cause many a player to wonder; if we can have 10-20 people on the screen at once with all their abilities flying, would it not be possible and probable, then, to let 8 people join a regular game as it was in D2? If I recall correctly, one of the main reasons they went with 4 was to reduce the amount of stuff flying everywhere.
Battlegrounds would seem to me to kinda go backwards on that. Though who knows, Blizzard IS known to come up with some good ideas. Maybe they've still got a few left.
My favorite parts of the article? "Expectations for a high quality Blizzard experience" and "Not up to the quality Blizzard gamers expect." Not to mention the fact that PvP has been delayed again, and if they're going back to the drawing board 7 months after release, we'll probably have a team deathmatch-like system 4 months before the next WoW expac.
This whole game was not up to the quality that Blizzard players (namely, myself) expect. If only there was some award or accolade that read something along the lines of "Worst best-selling PC game of 2012."
Trash Diablo 3 (because it IS trash), and start over. I will wait 5 years for the REAL Diablo 3. Call it Diablo: Resurrection or some other stupid cliche thing. Oh and please don't let ActiBlizzard develop it. Give it to people who know what they're doing. Apparently all Blizzard knows how to do is MMO and RTS games. Yes, WoW and SC2 aren't perfect either but they're closer to perfection than the dog poop of Diablo 3 will ever be. I can't believe I waited so long for this craptastic lolfest.
Oye...anyway. Better items, better difficulty scaling (monster HP and whatnot), ladder system, rune words (I really liked rune words). I could have designed this game better and I don't know jack about it
It's been a disaster since June. In my opinion, of course. Awful, terrible, ridiculous excuse for a piss-poor video game. I recently purchased Titan Quest as part of the Humble Bundle on Steam. Cost me about 70 cents. Came out in 2006.
It's better than Diablo 3. And that's not my hate talking
This company, its developers, storywriters, voice actors, and publisher should all be ashamed. Awful game. But with such high potential! Bawwww
Awesome, very awesome but...so boring! High DPS blasting one skill over and over again, disappearing at the right moment or you die...getting lucky with dodges when you miss those opportunities and you die, discovering and exploiting bugs or you die...I mean, great for you to put so much effort in but when I finally FINALLY kill inferno Diablo on my Barb it's gonna mean something to me as, I'm sure, this meant something to you.
I made a DH in the face of all this hype, got her to like 54 or something, but I found I had my head resting in my hand the whole time, staring at the screen with half closed eyes. I would much rather prefer to get my face beaten in on my barb and quit playing for the night in a fit of nerd rage than to do what you've done but to each their own.
Congrats on the kill, the video, the items, and the experience. Cheers!
Barbarian for sure. I've had the most fun during the beta as the Barb, though a VERY close second is DH. Plus I'll be playing mainly solo for my first run through so it matters not to me if I have 6 friends who are also barbs.
Energy Twister is going to be completely useless. The only hope is that the AoE of the runed Tornado is massive.
Not at all. Tons of little spiders that are all over the place, you throw down 2-3 Twisters, move away and nuke down with electrocute. More damage dealt than Arcane Orb since Twister runs over everything and keeps going, safer than Arcane Torrent because you don't have to stand still to cast it a lot.
Plus making the claim that a skill is "completely useless" is moronic, especially given the fact that we've seen about 4% of the game so far. I'm sure it has a place and a time to be used.

Can't wait for Heart of the Swarm though
I feel that it's a more accurate description.
lols, this.
I like the way you think.
Lots of potential. Needs more (1/2)mv^2

Bah. Here's to 2013!

Or highest selling worst game of 2012.

Gotta do what you love!
