I didn't mind Hunger Games, of course it's a chick flick it's the movie of a young girls' fiction book! If you go in with low expectations it's reasonably entertaining.
But yes the plot is pretty much identical to Battle Royale.
In Diablo 2 Cain would identify all items on you. They need to have a NPC do it. Problem solved.
Why visit an NPC at all? And if you had an NPC then what if I want to ID items without a trip to town? Bring back ID scrolls? Freaking waste of inventory space... no thank you.
I can't say I really see much point in it. The exciting part is when you see yellow/green/orange clatter to the ground. If they really want to keep it I'd say just apply it to legendaries.
Well.... its been a while since I played it, but I did play it for a long time and aside from there being a lot more to do (Rune Words) I remember finding Set Items, none of which would I ever consider selling.
How many HRs did you have drop for you in your entire time playing? How many Zods? Lol. People complaining about shitty drop rates in D3 don't know the meaning of "shitty drop rate"! And your MF didn't even affect your rune drop rate.
But w/e right because everyone had heaps of perfect runewords thanks to all the dupes.

You found a Legendary (guess you mean Unique)/Set item and it would've been great on a level 25? Are you talking about D3 or D2 there? Because that happened literally all the goddamn time in D2
So Blizzard buffs legendarys to the point that they are clearly BiS and sure enough now all anyone can think about is getting a legendary, ignoring anything else as useless junk. And gets shitty about the fact legendaries rarely drop. Sigh.
My solution to QQ about drop rates: hunt down QQers, murder them and put their heads on spikes as a warning to all other QQers!

Just last night I finally got my Barb (alt, main is a DH) to Inferno. I went through Act I like it was made of wet tissue paper - using only gear I got while leveling. I found an i63 2h with 1k dps in late Hell, and I can kill champ packs in one whirlwind with WOTB up. Fresh level 60, through to Act II with no farming required at all. Sure it's only Act I so far but... Jesus. I don't know what you guys are talking about, I may not have legendaries and sets and perfectly rolled rares but I've found plenty of gear to get the job done all on my own without even starting to farm.
I sometimes wonder if there would be a lot less of this QQ if Blizzard just divided the rate of ANY item drops by say, 10. The problem isn't the drop rate, it's players' ridiculous expectations. Perfect gear is supposed to be rare! And you don't NEED it, you can beat the game just fine in less-than-BiS gear that you farm yourself. But people see the BiS items and get fixated on them, assume they absolutely MUST have those particular items and get frustrated when they can't easily or reliably obtain them.
One thing he doesn't quite touch on that I believe is a problem is that level 63 gear shouldn't roll with 30 of a primary stat. What the op said about legendaries is spot on, and I believe the same of rares, the important stats have too much variability.
Getting the right stats on a piece of gear is already pretty rare, but then you wind up with one of more of the stats being around 50 out of 200-300 and it just ruins the piece.
The trouble here is that you're looking at that ilvl as if it's a guarantee of item quality. It isn't. There are no guarantees in Diablo.
In D2 people absolutely sought after items that had that perfect stat roll, and the stats didn't have to vary by 400% to make people want to pay big for them. The same would likely happen in D3 if they could make the game feel fun or rewarding. Currently they're worried that if they make good items actually drop that people would get bored of the game because they'd have good gear, however I'm not the only person who has quit the game because it's just not even entertaining to a large portion of people at the current loot drops. (I'm still here because I sincerely want this to be an awesome game)
In D2 for the most part, you got geared for the content relatively quickly and you farmed for fun, you were allowed to feel like you were awesome with broken mechanics, like actually working life steal, that's just kind of missing in D3. There was power variation in D2 as well, and it's probably somewhat okay that dps in D3 can range from 10k early inferno to 200k in BiS gear (according to that green post) but it does feel a bit much from the average gear levels to the high end ones.
1) People sought "perfect" rolls on items even if the stat variation had literally no impact on gameplay whatsoever. Presumably out of mindless perfectionism, which I think really says something about the mentality of players and how Blizzard can pretty much never please them.
2) By "working" life steal I take it you mean "retardedly OP life steal that makes everything without it junk and you're immortal if you have enough". They very deliberately avoided bringing that back.
3) You didn't gear "quickly" in D2, you didn't need to gear at all. The game was so easy you could beat it in absolutely anything, so farming was never required. I never farmed for items on a single character and killed Hell Baal on all of them. Also never traded any items, just used what dropped.
Yeah I wonder if they'll ever buff DW xbows, honestly the difficulty of getting two perfectly rolled 1h's is enough of a down side as it is. Whenever you see concept art of a DH it's with the two sexy crossbow pistols...
D2 trading system was extremly different from the current AH. Why?, because gold was useless. You could trade mostly runes, wich were extremly hard to get, that was the currency in D2. Now, lets back to D3, you can easily make 100k/200k in a few hours with close to horrible gear in inferno act 1, or hell act 3/4. With 200k, you can purchase gear which you would have taken several weeks to get from drops. See, there is no correlation between effort - gear.

I played D2 for years and had 6 accounts full of characters and in all that time I NEVER ONCE SAW A SOJ DROP. And that was the unit of currency (well until HRs took over)! How broken is that?
The developers are stating that D3 is all about the thrill of the loot drop, but rarely does any good loot drop. I played for about 6 hours this weekend with no good drops, not even remotely good. Then we are force to use the AH. If you wanted to play the game without the AH is would almost be impossible to beat the game
It's not at all impossible. You're assuming you need to be in full BiS to beat the game, which is far from true. Inferno is not meant to be easy, it's supposed to take either a lot of time to grind all the gear you need and/or a lot of careful use of skills, skipping bad champ packs, etc. I have never bought a single item from any AH (I don't have any problem with the AH that's just how I choose to play). It takes longer obviously... the AH is a shortcut, if you don't like shortcuts don't take them.
If you don't like random loot (and D3 has RANDOM loot, not random chance to drop fixed ILVLs or random chance to drop fixed items, everything is random and nothing can save you from that, that's the way it's intended) then Diablo just isn't for you. Every Diablo game is this way.
The fun of Diablo is that since everything is random, there's always better gear out there so always a reason to keep playing. Always a reason to stop and ID that rare because it COULD be an upgrade. If you could quickly and reliably find BiS items then the game would just end as soon as you had enough.

The identify option is a legacy of Diablo and Diablo 2, it has nothing to do with MMOs. In fact in previous Diablos you even had to ID MAGICAL items!

It's not at all impossible. You're assuming you need to be in full BiS to beat the game, which is far from true.
