Is this retroactive or only SoHs that drop in the PTR have the new proc rate?
It's a change to the internal mechanics, so yes it's retroactive. However, the change has only been made on PTR, so you won't see it on your current SoH until patch 2.1.2.
Today I want to show you guys some Lightning Monk Madness using the 'new' Shard of Hate. For those unaware, it was recently changed to always proc on-hit vs. previously being based on proc coefficients. This means high speed attacks (like Monk generators) will spread the lightning bolts everywhere.
When you combine this with further damage spread via Sweeping Wind/Cyclone, high APS (over 3 attacks per second), and Conduit/Pain Enhancer/Efficacious Toxin gems, you can fill the screen with lightning and feel like a real Monk - a fast attacking, highly mobile warrior. Enjoy!
^ And this is what I don't understand. The game did not come with any guarantee, written anywhere, of future content or updates or anything of the sort. The game was released a certain way and if you didn't like that, you shouldn't have bought it. In the future, you can wait for reviews or gameplay videos or whatever else to make an educated decision on whether you want to buy a game, but feeling entitled to free content - which is exactly what a lot of players expect - is just silly. I'm sure they'll continue to feel that way and complain, but that's not how you institute change.
But they did promise PvP. And they did promise they will always update the game. This can be found by blue post before D3v launched. PvP was on the box art.
And for the record, I have absolutely zero problem with you making videos. Do you my friend. Just be careful of what ideas you throw out. Opinions are great to make the game better and all. I just strongly disagreewith your opinion on micro transactions.
Yes, they did ... before the game was even released. Lots of companies promise things before game release that never happen. Not only that, but D3 is an outlier - there was a significant changing of the guard and a completely overhaul of the game's core leading up to 2.0/RoS. I've played the game nearly non-stop since beta, through all of the changes (Inferno/MP-Paragon/Torment), and honestly I feel Blizz deserves a break. Yea they messed up a lot of things, but they also tried a lot of things, some of which didn't work. That's the concept behind being a pioneer.
As for micro, of course it 'accelerates' progress to some extent, but it's not exclusive with grinding the game otherwise. It's no different from anything else in real life. If you have money, you can pay to accelerate. However, in a game like HotS, once you have the hero you want to play, no amount of real money will help you in anything, and unlocking the hero you want as your main can be done in ~20 hours of playtime for the most expensive ones. That's hardly 'pay to accelerate' or 'pay to win'. That said, I would gladly pay for extra stash tabs and maybe even a transmog if it looked cool enough.

I disagree whole heartedly on the micro transactions. I absolutely hate games with Micro. I'm not paying to win.
Video Game industry has more money than the movie industry. Please do not spread this message of micro transactions. I personally think they are ruining video games. It wasn't that long ago where they had cartridges (which costed more money then CD) and released a FULL game. A game where they didn't have to patch or this or that. Because it was released finished. Now, companies are more then happy to release unfinished games, patch it up, and nickel and dime you for everything along the way.
It feels like it takes a year or two, if not more, for a game to finally feel finished. This is BS. This wasn't like this all the time. It saddens me the consumer lets these companies get away with it.
Please stop spreading your message of MicroTransactions. It does not help us, the consumer, at all.
And Blizzard is rich as is. They don't need Micro transactions
I think you misunderstand the concept of a properly designed micro game. Micro games are NOT pay to win, they are either 'pay to customize' or 'pay to accelerate', but a well built micro game allows you to acquire anything via in-game resource that is considered performance-enhancing as you could with real money, it's just that real money is faster.
Why do you think Hearthstone is so successful? Do you think Blizzard just decided to spend hundreds of thousands (millions?) of dollars of developer time just to make a free to play game with absolutely 0 return? Come on now.
I've talked about this many times before, the kind of micro D3 sorely needs is quality of life/visual micro, just like any other game. Transmogs, extra stash tabs you can buy, etc.
As for the history of D3, there was a changing of the guard. It's unfortunate, but even though the concept of the auction house was sound (it's still great in WoW), the resource gathering speed in D3 is a lot faster and nothing was BoA/BoE, so it became a progression shortcut.
I don't get what 'consumers' are so mad about. If you don't like the game, don't buy it and don't play it.
Also MHM just another topic i would love to hear about:
Blizz said that the rarest items will be less rare by 2.5x rate.
As far as ive heared they also said that the rarest item is 4 times more rare than a common legendary.
So after this buff, how rare e.g. a furnace going to be? Its going to be like a Maxims or an SoJ?
or what can we expect from this change?
Thanks
It's pretty simple. If a legendary dropping has a 1% chance of being a Furnace, it will now have a 2.5% chance to be a furnace. It will still be rare, just not AS rare, likely because a good Ancient Furnace will be nearly impossible to find, so a bunch of 'regular' Furnaces will drop to at least make the Ancient version possible. If it was 1% to begin with, you'd be looking at 2.5% chance for it to be a Furnace. Then, a 1/10 chance for it to be Ancient, so 0.25%. Then, from my experience 1/5 chance at least for it to be usable, so 0.05% chance per legendary drop for it to be a usable Furnace. This is just an example, I don't have the drop percentages memorized by heart. That said, it'll still be more rare than a Maximus or SoJ.
Some things I think your right about and others I think your wrong about. Main thing I think you are wrong about is them giving us new content. There are tons of free to play games out there just as good with no shops to buy stuff from that get content updates every month or so. And if you read the forums for those games, nearly no bitching or complaining like the d3 community does. We deserve a good game and its basically been garbage sine it first came out. I read something about a month ago stating that D2 has just as many players as D3 does. Does this make any sense? It's sad that D3 is a newer game but D2 has the better team?
Please name some of these POPULAR free to play games that don't have any micro transactions.
Think about it logically. If you were a game designer, spending countless hours creating a FREE game, how would you earn money to pay for food?
Today I want to give you guys my educated prediction on why I believe we won't see patch 2.1.2 or season 2 until February of 2015, based on a couple official posts. This is something that's coming up a lot now, and if you connect the dots, you'll see the correlation between season 1 ending, the patch coming to consoles at the same time, and Blizzard checking out for the rest of the year. Enjoy and happy holidays!
I'm loving this. I like my monk, but as my gear has gotten better, my ability to keep up with button spam has fallen behind (recovering from a stroke). I guess some people might enjoy spammy builds to feel very active, but I never have, so this just seems like an all-around improvement. Any thoughts on what this might do with the WoL:Pillar build?
Edit: Would a Sunwoko + 4p Storms gear work well into that?
It would work great with several WoL builds, but adding 4 piece Storm is a total waste, as you only get 500 dex and 15% lightning damage, vs. 4 piece Inna's where you get a ton of offense and defense.
Maybe an update to this now that it seems that the clones explode with what ever elemental damage you have on the gear?
What sort of update are you looking for? Yes they explode for the highest element damage type you have on gear, that's been the case for the entire PTR I believe.
While I typically don't make item-specific videos, today I want to discuss Death's Bargain pants and why they're so bad. It's understandable that with multiple buffs to life per second as a whole, in paragon, on gear, even further on Ancient gear, the new regen gem, and Monk's various life per second skills, that a lot of players are 'theorycrafting' possible builds using this item.
Don't waste your time. In this video I explain the mechanics, damage scaling (or lack thereof), the 'separate' life per second mechanic of Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard, and showcase it on T6 with up to 250k passive regeneration. Enjoy!
Today I want to show and explain a quick tip for monks using Inna's set and the Taeguk legendary gem with builds that aren't terribly mobile. In this video I explain the keybindings for getting permanent free Taeguk stacks so long as you stop doing anything else once every 3 seconds, why it's important, and why there's nothing exploitative about it (it's normal keyboard behavior - not a macro).
This is not my discovery (HaxD3 showed it first I believe), but I wanted to explain it nonetheless for those unaware, since it's not something I knew about either. Enjoy!
I think a lot of players are doing other things in anticipation of season 2. Non seasonal leaderboards will be wiped and some game-changing season only legendaries (2 of the new gems) are coming next season AND seasonal leaderboards are 'forever' on a per-season basis, so basically non seasonal play, over time, will be nearly useless.
In the meantime, I'm personally playing almost 100% on PTR testing the new changes and just having fun crafting and trying new things without repercussions.
Today I want to explore a few core concepts of a Tempest Rush build in the next patch as it pertains to greater rifts. I'm hesitant to call this a build video due to a lack of proper items, but nevertheless I discuss some skill, gear, and playstyle synergies. Things like Hexing Pants, passive spirit regen vs. resource cost reduction, Furnace vs. Warstaff of General Quang, choice of double Mystic Ally, differences in engaging elites and the rift guardian, Inna's or not, and more - all while finishing up a grift myself. Enjoy!
The second templar ability is either a heal, or an 80% slow for 3 seconds after he deals damage. A bullkathos ring deals damage to all the mobs around the templar (thus slowing them by 80% for 3 seconds).
Quick napkin math, the dmg buff from CtW+BoT is about 50%, so in order for you to justify selecting other passives/abilities, you need to show how they increase your damage by more than that.
Gotcha, so I suppose that + aps jewelry + thunderfury would be the way to go then.

It's actually a 6x multiplier because it's '5x more damage', just like 100% more is a 2x multiplier, 200% more is a 3x multiplier, etc.
Also, after doing some more research it appears to be a purely multiplicative buff, so 30% on tempest rush/northern breeze becomes:
500 * 1.3 * 6 = 3900%.
I will have to do more thorough testing to confirm 100%, but it looks to be this way.
