If you’re looking for a great guide for monk, you have come to the right place.
A monk in my opinion is an all-rounder type, close combat class. If you like to be right up there in the front line of the battlefield, I highly suggest this class. However, being close combat has its pros and cons.
Pros- It’s fast, efficient and mid-damage per second.
Cons- It’s kind of risky as mobs can hit you directly and you have a higher chance of dying than far combat classes
Overview:
In this guide, I will go through leveling from 1 to 60, active and passive skills, gear and weapon and my favorite build.
Leveling from 1 to 60:
From 1 – 15:
First of all, in settings, activate elective mode. This allows you to choose what skills to put in wherever you want.
Equip- active : fist of thunder, vulture claw kick, blinding flash, breath of heaven, exploding palm and cyclone strike with the skill runes available
Equip- passive: resolve
From 15 – 30:
Equip- active: fist of thunder, vulture claw kick, mystic ally, mantra of conviction or evasion, seven sided strike and exploding palm with the skill runes available.
Equip – passive: chant of resonance, resolve, transcendent
From levels 1 to 30, you can easily finish normal difficulty and now it is time for nightmare.
From now to 60, try to experiment. As people say, you learn best when you do things yourself.
Builds:
My favourite builds is the damage (thunder) build.
The required level for this build is level 56.
Pros: High damage with high survivability
Cons: It is mobile.
Primary: Fists of Thunder with Thunder Clap
Secondary: Sweeping Wind with Cyclone
Defensive:
Serenity with Ascension
Blinding Flash with Faith in the Light
Breath of Heaven with Blazing Wrath
Mantra: Mantra of Conviction with Overawe
Passive Skills: Resolve, One with Everything and Seize the Initiative
To use this build, you have to maintain Sweeping Wind up and Mantra of Conviction up all the time because they’re the damage dealers. Also, Use Breath of Heaven as much as possible because of Blazing Wrath and for defence, use serenity and blinding flash wisely.
Armour/Gear:
I highly recommend getting Inna’s chest plate and pants and Natalya’s Bloody Foot Prints and Reflection. This is because Inna gives you bonus dexterity and Natalya’s give you critical chance. If you don’t have the money to buy these, buy rare ones with similar stats.
This build requires life on hit, high critical chance, attack speed, lots of dexterity and Critical Damage. Because of this, it’s recommended to duel wield. It is also recommended that your gear should have the following: Dexterity, Vitality, Attack Speed, Resistance, Life on Hit, movement speed, Critical Chance, Critical Damage, sockets (if have) and life per second (optional). For the weapon, go with + min, max and % damage, dexterity, sockets and others (optional).
For Sockets, definitely go with emerald except for the helmet.
A budget of 500k-1mil gold can easily get you this build.

From here, you can farm with ease: Kill elites and champions with no sweat. In my opinion, I suggest spamming mantra of Conviction but try to keep Sweeping Wind as much as possible because of life on hit. Because this is a mobile build, you have to be right up there, in front of the battle/close combat. Don’t be afraid and after you’ve finished, you can show off to your friends how good you really are at Diablo 3.
