Bola Shot - is more disc = more smoke screens.
Spike Trap - Scatter - Kite enemies through choke points for 825% weapon dmg in a small aoe for 30 hatred = best burst a demon hunter has.
Rain of vengeance - Stampede or Flying Strike give you a bit of burst dmg + CC on a modest CD.
Smoke Screen = Essential on hell
preparation = more smoke screen AND it a chunk of health.. very potent.since self healing is probably a DHs weakest aspect.
Caltrops - hooked spines is the best rune for it imo since the other ones barely slow champs at all.
Archery/Steady aim should be obvious enough and help with spike trap damage. Numbing traps keeps you from getting 1 shot when stuff charges through your caltrops or w/e.
The builds not perfect, and not group friendly either ( I'd probably drop RoV for Marked for Death + 1% heal in a group), but it does very good damage and is about as survivable as anything else available and easy to use.
The Screaming Skull Rune does some work on hell. Its very cheap and spammable CC/interrupts. unlike Say Clusster Arrow's Dazzling rune which is very good, but also very expensive.Especially potent in the thin long corridors where the enemies will all line up.

I disagree. The Wizard if nothign else has a ton of snares be it 30% on arcane damage or ray of frost, or frozen meteors. after wave of force etc etc.
This makes it much more viable for a DH to take Cull the Weak passive without having to use Entangling shot himself. OR not having to entangling shot at the start of every fight. Its the small quality of life benefits like this that stack up quickly. I mean yea you can spam caltrops around and shit, but it costs disc and there will still be enemies not in its effect. another source of snares can only help your damage. And if it frees you to use a couple pure damage runes instead of snaring ones, thats a net gain too.
Anyway as i said the DH and Wizard have very similiar playstyles and thus are naturall complimentary even if they don't have abilities like allies deal 15% more dmg or w/e.
I would say the Wiz and DH have reasonable synergy. Primarily in the fact they both have access to Snares and immobilizes with different restrictions/cds. But the Wizard can make enemies weak to arcane damage, and the DH has at least one ability that can deal arcane damage to benefit from it. But they also both have turrets ( sentry and hydra) and "pets" ( companion and familiar) so if you want/need to ktie while minions do work they both can support that playstyle.
Plus hard to target spells like Spike Trap + Long Fuse and Meteor are easier to use when both players want to engage in that playstyle and will use/alternate their immobilizes to ensure maximium enemies caught in the effects of those hgih damage spells with delays before the damage.
The DH also has acccess to several stuns which can help out a wizard in trouble. And the Wiz has slow time, frost nova, mirror images , and wave of force that might help out a DH.
I'm sure there's more I'm missing, and that plenty of other classes have plenty of synrgy but there seemed to be a lot of wiz/dh hate so i figure I'd give it a bit of thought.
There's no reason Temp Flux and Stun won't stack... just realize they trigger off different damage types, and the chance to stun is very low and your lightnign damage is pretty short range so it won't always save you.
It appears I was wrong about not stacking bolas... I could have sworn when I played in beta they didn't maybe it was just the bolas left after the mob died not exploding or soemthing., But w/e i can admit my mistake. In which case I guess its fine as your sole generator... I still think sticky bomb as your sole hatred spender kinda limits you on bosses, but the build isn't cripplingly bad as I origionally thought.
I was operating under the impression the during the 1 second "after crit" cooldown ALL your attacks would keep the increased crit chance until it reset.
Still awful since aoe will prevent the stack from going high, but at least it makes the "alpha strike" nature of it a bit better when you can unload 2-3 really strong 100% crit attacks to start a pack off.
Some thing like Spike Trap + RoV + Impale + Hungering Arrow.... Not exactly practical but you could in theory stack a lot of dmg in that 1 second window.
You don't see your horrible single target damage issue?
If you chain cast Bola on 1 target it will never explode... which means you're limited to the 182% weapon damage every 2 seconds ( plus human error delay in re-applying the Bola). Compare to un-runed Entangling Shot. at 1.5 a/ps (slower than a single hbow no dw/quiver). = 3 attacks in 2 seconds for 75% dmg each or 225% total, and thats the weakest single target generator, And spike trap will deal 0 damage single target.since its only on enermy death.
Admittedly single target encounters are somewhat rare, but even then you'll run into issues where its hard to put Bola up on more than a couple enemies without refreshing it accidentally ( unless they are very spread out in which case you're not getting much aoe benefit from Bola or Sticky bomb).
Which brings me back to my point that while Bola IS very good and does excellent damage you'll need a reliable/spammable form of single target damage to finish off weakened mobs, and you'll suffer dramtically Vs enemy suffixs like invulnerable minions and bosses like the Butcher which don't seem to have any adds.
Edit: Re: Smoke Screen's damage. Yea its pretty good, but its pretty much the least efficent way to convert discipline to damage and enemies will move out of it if you don't caltrop them in it. Wolf Companion or Sentry + Chain of Torment (or Spitfire) should out damage it easily even in AoE situations when you're going to be kiting repeatedly... Not to mention I question your ability to maintain enoguh discipline to vault, smoke screen and caltrop. Prep and Night Stalker help sure, but you're not innately sustainable let alone when you start burning disc to get away. All in all your build seems slow and inefficent to me.
This may be a stupid question but will you be able to view the status of your Nephalem Valor? i.e how many stacks you have?
I'd assume it'd be a buff on your character potrait. Stuff like debuffs, monk chakras, and other temporary buffs like frenzy, movement speed, or shrine buffs all appear there.
The premise is kinda shaky. Bola doesn't scale very well with attack speed sicne you have to wait an unmodified 2 seconds to deal your single target damage... and spike trap only does damage when an enemy dies... The build might be viable on normal/nightmare except the runes require levels 50+. All in all at a mininium you'll probably want another generator or an efficent hatred spender,. chakram/vicious thow/elemental arrow come to mind, and even then the build lacks anything special to make it impress.

-25% Damage dealt debuff
+12% damage taken debuff
1% less lifesteal debuff
"spammable" chance to stun moves, and lots of non-spammable ones as well.

Perhaps not the most overwhelming list ever, but its something.
If DH need more group synergy a potent addition would be to make Caltrops "bait the trap" rune provide 10% crit to other players standing in its AoE. that would provide a fairly unique and potent synergy with melee types.
If you are in a group, and you have caltrops that completely stop movement for 2 seconds, and you have a shitload of stuns, then what is the point of smoke screen?
Because sometimes stuff just goes wrong, like the RNG gods screwing me on stun procs or me whiffing with caltrops. Besides other than Marked for Death or maybe Bat/ferret companion there's really not anything else the build needs or can afford. Basically I could take FoK or RoV, but if I need them its an emergency and Smoke Screen is better at ensuring I survive... and I didn't take Mark/companion since I'm not sure I'd have the discipline to support their use. They are viable options but I was going for personal survability first and foremost since although the build is group orientated you can't count on anyone else to save you.

Why not? Angels hunt and kill demons all the time. In fact one might say they are a demon's natural predator.
You are not a Demonic Hunter ( I mean lore wise yes this is also a little true) but technically you are primarily a Hunter who hunts demons.
