We commonly use the term “soon” when referring to Blizzard releases, because we know that no matter how hard we’re working to reach a target, we’re not going to compromise and launch a game before it’s ready. For Diablo III, we were aiming to launch by the end of 2011. As we’re announcing globally today, our new target for the game is early 2012.
While this news might not be a complete surprise, I know that many of you were hopeful that Diablo III would ship this year. We were too. However, this week we pulled together people from all of the teams involved with the game to decide whether we felt it would be ready before the end of December, and we grudgingly came to the conclusion that it would not. Ultimately, we feel that to deliver an awesome Diablo sequel that lives up to our expectations and yours as well, we should take a little more time and add further polish to a few different elements of the game.
The upside of today’s announcement is that we will be running the beta test longer than we initially planned, which will allow us to invite more of you who have opted in.
For those taking on the Diableard challenge, we salute you -- and now fear for your well-being and personal hygiene. We hereby issue an official reprieve to all Diableard participants, including Blizzard employees, if you want to trim or otherwise manage the lower half of your face. We’d still love to see your beardly achievements, and we look forward to seeing more of your efforts as we move into 2012, but not to the detriment of your workplaces and significant others.
Thank you everyone for your support and anticipation for Diablo III. We’re still moving ahead at full pace, and we’ll be keeping you fully informed of any news and developments here at Diablo3.com, including the specific release date when the time comes, so stay tuned.
Im pissed, well at least I will have Skyrim and MW3 to pass the time
Well, assuming that Husky doesn't fall in the friends and/or family subset, that's a fair conclusion. However, I for some reason do think that Husky has links to Blizzard and got into the F&F beta.
I just dont understand all the other news people that have it like Yogcast and that D9 guy or whoever people are talking about
People who did not order blizzcon tickets cannot view the store, is there anyone that has a ticket to blizzcon that can take some screen shots for the community? Thanks
Assuming I wont make the beta the first class I play is the one I want to main with (assuming i dont really hate him for some reason.)
So anyway im stuck between a Witch Doctor and a Barbarian. I like the tanky melee damage of the barb but i also like the summoning and creepy magic abilities of the Witch Doctor.
-Personally im just excited for a complete dungeon crawler. Ive tried some other games on ipad and pc that claim to be the modern dungeon crawlers but they just arent up to par with the diablo franchise. (newest one i have tried is torchlight, which dont get me wrong is fun, i just dont see much re playability after i beat it.)
-The second reason is that I have been waiting for some kind of online game that i can start from the beginning and hopefully master. Many games like GW2 and WoW i didnt start until they were out for a couple years. IDK about you guys but starting a game after release makes me feel like I will never have as much knowledge in a game as the people who have played it since launch.
-Third, Theres no good games out to sustain me for a while. Sure I have played some decent games like Warhammer Space Marine but after a week and maxing out my level there really isnt much to do. With Diablo 3, the numerous character classes and end game content will keep me occupied for a while!
-Lastly, ITS DIABLO 3!! I had a lot of fun with Diablo 2 and I cant wait to start playing this game with my friends and the countless memories that will take place!
As frustrating as it is for longtime Diablo fans to sit and watch new people play for the first time it is a necessary evil. Having a fresh set of eyes can give blizz an idea of how to make Diablo a lil more accessible to someone who isn't familiar with the series.
Past polls and posts from the community seem to think that this week is the week for blizzard to release the closed beta.
Kinda makes sense,1 week after F&F, now that they fixed some issues maybe they will release it.
I dont know, im not trying to deliver false hopes but I really have a gut feeling that it will be released this week. (Although I think half of the community says that every week )
1. RELEASE DATE
2. Collectors edition
3. New aspect of Diablo 3 that no one is aware of.
BLIZZCON IS HERE BABY! THE WAIT IS OVER!

Same thing is happening now, press are starting to get in and the NDA is obviously lifted, its just a matter of time until blizz announces it.

Feel free to lock
