Int would be okay, but would prefer str and vitality. Also I was planning on getting some dexterity but if I dodge and have thorns on me, would the thorns effect the monsters or do they have to hit me. If they try to attempt to hit me and dodge and thorns still effects them, then i'll consider trying to fit dexterity.
Items will have a lot of stats. I think the perfect item will be high on Str, Int, and Vit (probably in that order). A dodge does not trigger throns damage or revenge proc, so dex isnt quite as good.
Intellect is a very good stat for taking damage. Dex isnt too bad either.
Str/int/dex all offer the same damage reduction before modifies. Now, its clear barbs have modifiers based on str, but the effectiveness of armor is reduced versus higher level opponents -- contrast to a stat like int, that offers damage reduction regardless of attacker level.
Any piece of gear with high stats, and primarily str, will be considered good for tanking.
Vitality and bonus to health globes also have stacked weights for a tank barb, but wouldnt be so useful if it takes ages to kill any mobs in inferno.
I think there will be cases where mobs will chain root, or run too fast to control. Cases will exist where mobs will have to hit... something. It may as well be a class that takes less damage (melee) vs one that takes more damage (ranged).
So I am skeptical of there being a balancing issue if Inferno is as hard as I think it will be.

formula is actually: armor / (armor + attacker level x 50)
so its a bit lower than 84.2%, but not far off
this is relevant because mobs in inferno are above the max character level
